Just downloaded pandahome yesterday and ive been fooling around with it. Complaints so far: -where are all of the sense widgets, such as different clocks and the lanscape mini calendar? i cant find a wifi or data toggle cant put widgets in docking bar. I think i like sense home better, except for one thing:
I love tha t the home screen can go into landscape view! Is there any way to set it up to do this on sense home? Your help is greatly appreciated, im still a newbie haha
I have written a test case to implement a conference contact management system with Content Provider and SQLite. The launch activity is a Listactivity and the customized provider is extended from ContentProvider, u know, actually the sample is so similar to the Notepad Sample in the official SDK packages. However, i can't find the created .db file in the /data/data/myapp/ except the /lib directory. Why?
I'm trying to write an Android widget that shows how much data has been transferred over 3G/WIFI/EDGE but I can't seem to find the API call, even though other widgets do this. Does anyone know what the API calls are to get the data usage?
I am working on an application that needs to find GPS location of the user. While testing my code on Droid i am unable to find the GPS location. While googling i found this link to an issue raised with Google.
But apps like Yelp can find the GPS location on droid. Is there a workaround to find the user location on a device? Here's the code I am using code....
I'm curious to see how these are selling. I have this feeling they are not selling very well do in no small way to T-Mobile's complete lack of interest in marketing this phone. On launch day for instance at my T-Mobile store they made no mention of the Vibrant AT ALL. No displays, posters, floor model unit to play with, nothing. I see ads on tv constantly for the Evo and even the obscure Garmin phone that 3 people bought. I've never seen an ad anywhere for the Vibrant though.
I believe its the android SDK that allows you to make android apps on your pc. I have a Dragon Touch 9 inch 8 gb 512 memory tablet and on amazon, it showed the notification on top and the back, home and recent apps on bottom. I don't know how to enable this (if you can), But if i cant, i will just make a app that does this.
I'm making an Android Java app game (although this question applies to all languages really) and hope to release the first version soon. I'm nervous about how I save data in my game. My problem is that, if in a later update, I decide to store more data or store the same data in a different way, I need to be careful I don't lose or corrupt data for users that upgrade (i.e. I want users to be able to use data created by an old version in the new version, like their high scores from before). For example, say I want to save high scores in version 1.
Imagine the situation that Any data plan is not activated and as soon as u enable the data connection hundereds of thing in android want to connect to internet and when u disable the data connection again . Ur money is deducted.
Now u will ask me if i dont have a data plan why i enable the data connection.?
So here is the thing I want the data connection to be enabled so that i can open free site like facebook on Opera Mini.
So is there any way so that i can enable the data connection but my phone does not connect to internet to itself but i control which app connects. In my case opera mini.
In android 4.0 and above there is the option in the data usage settings, to turn mobile data on and off. What difference does it exactly make? As fas as I tested, I still can take a look at my mobile data usage, even though it is tuned off in the data usage settings.
According to this source of Google
turning it off means:
If it's off, you won't be able to use mobile data at all and many features of your phone and apps won't work correctly.
what they mean by "...use mobile data at all..." (since I still have 3G) and what features there could be?
I recently bought a Nexus 4 and I would like to avoid losing it. I have no problem in spending some money on it, but it must work with/without internet connection (so I can save my phone with an sms if there isn't internet connection).
Actually I found "Locate My Droid" but I noticed there are various apps of this type, so before buying a PRO version I would like to know some well known names where I can choose from.
I am using Huawei Ascend P6 android 4.2.2..i want to select only 3G/WCDMA. I can't find network mode in mobile network setting. I searched for solution but only i got iz the code *#4636#*#* but even it didn't work as i enter the last* it goes back to dialer.
Just as I said in topic - I runned out of memory on my SGSII on internal and sdcard and moved some pictures to /data/myfolder by using Root Explorer, then I've accidentaly deleted it. Is there any way to get the data back?
1) I cant mount /data so it can't be visible on My Computer 2) I couildnt find any app on Market which could recover deleted files from /data partition
EDIT: Maybe there is a way to make a FULL IMAGE of data partition so I could scan it from my PC with some software for lost files? somehow?
I'm wondering if on an android device there's a way to force it to keep open a wifi connection that is not used for data, for example to a Seagate Goflex Satellite (WiFi HDD) or eye-fi (WiFi SDHC) while also being simultaneously connected to 3G for data. Obviously connecting to 2 wifi connections is out of the question.
I have an Android LG Optimus Q (through Straight Talk). Because I wanted a screenshot app and to be able to have more "internal" memory, I rooted my device today and did a couple of other things.
1) I first rooted my device (and therefore installed SuperUser) 3) I installed Terminal Emulator 2) I downloaded CWM 3) I made a back-up (it said Done...) 4) I installed ROM Manager 5) I created (or at least I think so, since I went through all the steps) a second partition in my SD so I could create more "memory" destined to be used by programs. 6) I downloaded Link2SD and moved a couple of things to (I think...) the second partition in the SD
Everything was going ok, even though I wasn't sure if the partition had been created or not because I couldn't find a way to check it... until I went to check my 800 pictures and... they were all gone!!! I decided not to freak out at first because I remembered that I had made a backup directly through CWM... so I tried retrieving it through there... and nothing - nothing found... WTF?!
So I tried checking for the backup through ROM Manager, and... NOTHING! There must be a way to at least recover the files... You know, like when you accidentally delete stuff in your camera you can still recover it with a program... is there anything like that? or steps I should follow to recover the backup? I had pictures of my kid there and I just REALLY don't want to count them as lost.
i am new to android phones ROM updating . in forums for update ROM on android phone tutorials have two methods

2. odin multi downloader

I've searched to no prevail. id like to start developing apps but am having issues getting the environment set up. I have the jdk properly installed.
issue 1 (main major ):
I've installed the android sdk from multiple sources, but when i try to start sdk tools, the command prompt flashes/ opens briefly and i get this message:
"Failed to execute toolsandroid.bat: The system cannot find the file specified."
Do i need to change a PATH variable or something...
I cannot get eclipse to run. when i try to open the exe file ( because there is no short cut icon...?) it gives a message about not finding a companion library... ive try to change the properties in the file that is supposed to fix it, but it was already set the way its supposed to be. this is not major as i can use a different IDE.
so im completely lost as to th sdk tool. I just tried adding the file path to the android sdk ( PATH variable) and it still did not work... I also just tried start the android, bat file and the cmd promt flashes briefly saying somthing about xcopy is not an operable command...etc couldn't read all of it... I am on windows 7 home premium
I'm trying to limit my mobile data usage with out jumping through hoops.
I'm looking for a widget, that with one click of a button, it can restrict background data, disable auto-sync and enable mobile data, and when pressed again, enable WiFi, disable background restriction and enable auto-sync.
This function, no matter how trivial, would save time and effort.
Is there anything like this out there? Would something like this require root?
