What exactly does joining contacts do?I have joined all my duplicates and contacts from different lists together so there's only one entry per person. If I go on them, they're all listed under my Google Account under my email address. however some of them I merged on my phone aren't merged on gmail contacts.
And I see all the names now of my list, but the numbers aren't saved.. just their name, sometimes their email address..I'm currently on an old T-Mobile G2 but getting N4 soon..
I've checked my phone's sync settings, synced several times, logged in and out of Gmail online to see if anything has been updated. No such luck. Icon by phone numbers saved on phone is a cell phone, rather than the letter "G" which typically represents contacts pulled from Gmail online. I've had this issue - I believe - with my previous Samsung. Although I've seen this question brought up before, the answers are typically not device specific or have not been useful and clear to follow.
As a new user, I had difficulty negotiating this site and finding the best place to post this. There is not an LG Optimus L9 Forum so, if there is a location where this post might encourage more visibility.
Seriously..this is my biggest gripe with Google. No matter how much time and effort I put into going through all my contacts and joining them and linking them to Facebook, it's all for naught because if I ever I have restore them from Google sync, they will all be unjoined and unorganized. Why doesn't Google remember which contacts I join with each other and which ones get linked with which Facebook profile?
I also back my contacts to my SD via Go Backup. That method remembers which contacts are joined but doesn't backup anything related to Facebook. And if I restore my contacts via that method, Google will still sync and I'll have like 3 of each contact.
I'm having problems saving contacts. I have a number in my call history that wont save to contacts, when I save the contact to google contacts it stays in the people list for a few minutes then a few minutes later it disappears.
Is this just the nature of Android, that contacts have to be sync'ed back to some Internet server? Or even that you must have an email address to even use the damn thing?
I have a Motorola Backflip. Android seems cool because of the customization capabilities, but I don't know where my data is. Is there any Android phone that keeps contacts local & doesn't "phone home"?
Of the 2GB dataplan that AT&T automatically added once I plugged my SIM card in, I've only racked up 50MB of data for the whole billing period (which ends in a couple days). I like Android but don't need 3G or Internet.
I am working on an application to sync contacts which are large in number. The syncing takes place in a background thread with user being able to browse through the rest of the application. I am displaying the sync status in the notification bar suing the progress bar. The problem I am facing is that there are instances when the activity is killed and hence the background thread used for syncing the contacts is purged.
i am using HTC desire(Android) and i am pretty much happy with the performance. The issue i wanna discuss here is that my phone does not sync the birthdays from my phone contact details to the calender, as it was availabe in my previous phone HTC Touch diamond, i used to feed the birthday details along with the contact and it syncs those birthdays with the calender when i used to sync it manually with the help of computer. But no such option is availabe in Android. please don't reply with the 'synching birthday contact and events' from google calender. I've seen loads of forums on that , but that ain't related to my problem. i want synchronization of my phone contact's birthday details to the phone calender.
I've recently bought a Cubot x6 and I'm having trouble adding a new APN, it will not save when I change the MNC from 33 to 30, but will allow me to change and save all other APN settings. I've seen this problem solved elsewhere with the use of app's, but to my knowledge APN settings cannot be altered by apps in the latest android version (im running 4.2.2).
I have contacts on my Droid with phone numbers that the same contact in Gmail do not have. Some history:
I have a Droid 3. My Accounts include my main Gmail acct, a gmail acct I hardly ever use (no contacts issues there), a pop3 account and a Touchdown-Exchange account which I dont need because Im not connected to that Exchange server any longer. Some time ago, since I wasnt on the Exchange server any more, I deleted the Touchdown account. Then I realized some or most of my Google contacts had disappeared from the phone. Thinking that this would delete the same contacts from the Gmail servers when it synced, I immediately restored the Touchdown account, restoring the lost contacts to the phone. Are these 2 issues related?
i have problem with contacts and its frustrating google account did some stupid things and now i have same number in multiple forms and i dont know how to get rid of it.

I have an LG Spectrum 2 and I can't figure out if/how I can get my calendar from my old phone onto my new (same model) phone. I have tried syncing it, but I don't know where it's syncing it to. I don't know if it can be synced/saved to my SD card? I tried syncing it to my gmail calendar, but it only shows the events that are saved as yearly occurrences. (And somehow it's showing saved yearly events from my work Outlook calendar?)
I did see suggestions for clearing the cache and data in the Calendar Settings, but since I don't have the calendar backed up, I don't want to risk loosing my information.
Is there a better way then using titanium backup and manually doing this? Seems like a crazy tedious thing to do. I jump back and fourth between the two devices even on an hourly basis. one is my phone and the other is a tab.
it is opening phone contacts and when i choose one contact i can get all detail of the contact but not getting the number type of numbers; more specific >> if the user have four numbers, i can get all number but not getting number type of these numbers i.e. HOME,WORK,MOBILE)
Just switched from a PalmPre+ and am still trying to learn about ICS on my Droid4 but ran into something I can not seem to find a solution for:
I have several conference call contacts that share the same access number and I keep their unique access ID as part of the contact name so that I can type it in when prompted (once the call connects and the contact name is still visible on the dialer pad).
"Adam's conferencee call code 12345678" Work 1-800-555-1212 "Betty's conference call code 87654321" Work 1-800-555-1212 "Charlie's conference call code 54637281" Work 1-800-555-1212
however when manually choosing to dial from Betty's contact list, the android dialer ends up showing "Adam's conference 12345678".
is there a way to "disable the phone# look up when picking from the contact" which ends up displaying the first contact name it encounters in the alphabetically sorted list?
When I text the number it fails, I double checked, the number is correct, I deleted his contact and noticed a capital N in front of his number. I manually typed his number to text and again it failed to send and again it had put a capital N in front of his number
I am using the Gmail app for my Droid Ultra and I have all accounts to auto-sync and push from server automatically and I never get the notifications for new mail.
Whenever I choose to randomly open the app, though, there will always be new mail there. This is a total productivity hinderance. What can I do about it?Also, where can I mess with the sync settings in it in case something isn't turned on, just to be safe?
Android default email client when connected to office wifi doesn't sync my e-mails while if i configures my exchange account in enhanced email it works absolutely fine and all my emails starts syncing on same office wifi.
I was having an offline chat with my system administrator and he told me that they have blocked something to avoid IP pool full issue ( new users were not able to connect to office wifi as almost everyone was using two IP, one on smartphone and one on laptop).
Question is how enhanced email client is able to sync? Can i make some changes in default android email client to make it sync.? My Edge connection is too slow to download emails and can't switch to 3g as it is a company provided connection.
my Android device: Everytime I add a new contact it's randomly saved to one of my two Google accounts that are synched with my phone, but I want it to be saved directly(locally) to the phone. I've browsed through all the settings menus but couldn't find a solution.
I am currently trying to repair a soft bricked(stuck in boot loop) Samsung Galaxy S2 (T-Mobile) . I am trying to save the info (contacts,sms,pictures..etc). Would using Odin to flash CWM Recovery and doing a nandroid backup and then restoring the phone to factory settings. Would it somehow save everything in the internal memory and fix the phone?
