I've done a ton of searching and still haven't been able to find a solution that works for me. I am on Virgin Mobile and have an Optimus V. Most of my friends have iPhones and when they send a group text message it shows up as a blank message for me. I downloaded Go SMS Pro and it still doesn't work in there. I don't want any app that would give me a new number. BTW, I receive group texts from those of my friends that have Windows phones just fine.
When a group message is sent between my co-workers, who are all iphone users, and myself (Note 3), one person in the exchange does not receive the text. This is not the common iMessage issue that was plaguing me when I made the switch from Apple to Android. This is specifically affecting one iphone user. When I send her a text individually it is not a problem. The other iPhone users don't have a problem receiving or sending to me.
So I recently switched from an iphone 4s to a Droid Maxx. Soon after switching over I learned that I was not receiving any texts messages from iphone users. After calling apple and removing my imessage certificate I started receiving INDIVIDUAL text messages from iphone users; however, when I am in a group message with other iphone users it continues to try and send messages to me as imessages. My friends have tried deleting my contact info on their phone along with all text message threads with me in it, but nothing has worked so far.
Everyone I know seems to have an iPhone, and they have the ability to send and receive group SMS messages in a single thread. Every recipient sees who's included the thread and they "Reply all" to each message. It also looks like Blackberry's can handle this group messaging feature. But my Android phone can't. (Nexus S 4G - 2.3.7)
The default messaging app, Google Voice, and Handcent all split up each group text into individual threads, which makes it really difficult to manage the conversation. These apps also think that the group texts are MMS messages, which is doubly annoying.
I'm on T-Mobile with Sony Xperia Z1S, and my all other friends are all with AT&T and iPhone.
Whenever I'm included in their group text (or I sent out group text including them), I never get much of luck working.
I will more likely get bunch of individual MMS text from all 5 friends (iPhone) with "touch to download" but the text itself nowhere to found, and even i touch the "touch to download" mms, it doesn't download anything.
I forgot to mention, i use "hangout" as my main SMS and message app.
I have asked same question on G+ and one person replied and said he has no problem with group text with other iPhone user, and suggested me to have group message on hangout setting, and turn off Wi-Fi calling. I tried and still doesn't work.
Just to start off, I have a Droid 3, flashed to metro. I didn't flash it myself, so I don't have very extensive knowledge, but it is rooted.
1) My biggest problem: I can't receive or send group messages. I tried both handcent and go sms pro. In GO sms Pro, I've checked Send Settings > MMS Group Chat. I can send and receive MMS, but when I send it to multiple people, they all receive individual texts rather than a group text. Long story short I'm trying to message a group of people with iPhones. How can I do this or what exact settings do I need? I've looked at other threads, but to no avail.
2) 3G isn't working. It worked when I initially got it, and when I called the place that flashed my phone, they said that Metro sent out some file that blocks the 3G access.
I flashed a rom to test for somebody, but it's not too stable, I started a few texting conversations and some good byes to friends, I really want to go back to the stable version before tomorrow so I'll have a stable phone to use for my first day of college. What if my phone was supposed to receive a text during the time I'm in recovery or fastboot mode? Will I get the text right after I boot up into a rom for the first time or will I just not get it? I don't want to bring anything up about Android ROM flashing and all that, they won't have a clue about what I'm saying...
There's actually a phone made by Fujitsu that's similar in that it can be booted into the full desktop windows 7 32 bit by the switch of a button. The downside I see to it is that when you are running it the phones radio is turned off so you can't receive calls or texts also the phone UI is some proprietary Fujitsu software. Needless to say it looks pretty lame compared to Android but nevertheless it's still pretty awesome looking. Here's a few links: URLs....
Got a problem with my new Samsung galaxy S2 that's stumping.Several times a day, for several minutes at a time, I'm unable or send or revive text messages. During this ~5 min window I am also unable to make or receive calls. Outgoing texts will time out and outgoing call just stay at "dialing" and then time out. The issue resolves itself after a few minutes.
NOTES: • This started when I switched to an iPhone on Sprint from my Samsung Epic 4g on Sprint. Thinking it was the iPhone issue, I switched to a Galaxy SII... which does the exact same thing. • I have signal bars the whole time • my girlfriend, who shares the cell plan and my house never has this issue (she has an Evolution 4g) • tried updating the PRL, profile and even had Sprint reset my MSID#. • happened on stock EK02 ROM, and rooted EL29 roms.
How can I send a text to groups with over 20 contacts in them? I have two work groups that range from 20 to 25 members and often need to get messages to them. I switched from a Blackberry and like the new phone a great deal but I really need to have the ability to send large group texts.
had the hero on its UK release date, only just starting to realise that I dont actually receive all my texts off people.Ive had texts of people saying 'did you get my text last night' or 'why havnt you replied' so I still receive texts off these people but seem to miss a few occasioanlly.Rang Orange who dont seem to have it listed as a widespread fault, theres no firmware update available for this model yet either.Orange are sending me a replacement handset so I will see if that helps but Im starting to wonder if other people are getting this, its not obvious straight away that its happening, Im only now starting to get people saying that I dont seem to be getting their texts sometimes, when I try to recreate the issue I cant. All the people seem to be on O2 that I randomly dont receive texts from
Yes, unfortunately I have friends with iPhones. With iOS4, they can basically do a group text chat that has all the users receiving the messages from everyone in one location and all messages are saved. This is basically like a chat group using text messages. My question is whether android has any apps that can allow us to "join" these chats. I asked my friend to add me as a user to the chat but all that accomplishes is letting me get individual messages from each member of the chat. If I wanted to reply to the group, I would have to reply to each one individually.
I have not been able to receive texts since last night. What happens is I will get nothing for hours, then I reboot, and will get like 8 at once. I don't want to take it to vzw, because they will just reset it and i want to only use that as a last ditch effort. Any suggestions on how to fix it?
I?ve had my HTC desire for about 3 weeks until now not had any problems, but now i can?t seem to make or receive calls or text. When I try to ring someone it just beeps and ends the call. When someone rings me it says unavailable. Nor can i send or receive texts. I?ve spoken to my network operator and everything is fine on their end and also got a new sim card from them just in case it was a sim card fault. Anyone know what the problem could be?
Anyone else experiencing not being able to receive texts from anyone? I first noticed it about 2 days ago. Only SOME weren't coming through, now none of them are coming through. I've done a hard reset last night and I have not rooted my phone
Just got my refurbished Captivate in the mail today, charged and activated it as per the instructions. It worked just fine for about 30 minutes or so. I put on a few apps and showed them off to my roommate, and things were going fine. Then all of a sudden I couldn't send or receive phone calls, nor was I able to get/send text messages. With no pattern or logic I would go from 3g to edge to neither of the two symbols (just full signal strength) to the international no sign where my full bars just were. If I typed and tried to send a text while the no sign was visible it would send and receive texts as soon as I got signal back, but that would only last a few minutes.
I've tried hard and soft resets and restoring the phone to factory settings, all to no avail, as well as checking my message center number. I've looked around in the forums and can't seem to find anyone who has had this problem, and I was hoping someone would have some advice or could point me to a thread that I may have missed. I'd talk to AT&T but chat hours are over and I have to be up early for work tomorrow and need my phone for that, so I'm not sure I can ask customer service tomorrow beforehand.
Is anyone here going to be downloading/using the Gameboid app? I would love to be able to use my phone as a GBA . Question for those of you who have used it though...a few people have reported not being able to receive texts after playing it for a little while...is this truly a problem? Also, could anyone post some detailed instructions on how to get it to work? I think I understand it, but could surely use some clarification.
I have Verizon and I just got the new DX.I can make and receive calls, make and receive emails, access internet/market and everything except for send/receive text messages.I have unlimited texting on my plan so it's not that, all texts refuse to be sent and I'm not getting any incoming messages either.anyone else get this? What's a fix?
