I use google voice to send all my calls on my cliq xt but I was wondering if there is a way to have people call my google voice number and not have it count towards my minutes. Also is there a way to have the sms be integrated with the built in android sms app or have the voice app constantly be open?
My girlfriend is getting a smartphone from work, and wanted to get rid of her personal line. She wants to port her personal number to Google Voice, so that she doesn't have to tell everyone her work number. Will porting automatically cancel that line from AT&T or should she call first? If she ported the number and for whatever reason decided she wanted to use it for a personal line again, could she port that number back back to a carrier?
I've experienced two problems with Google Voice that are causing me to get charged minutes I wouldn't usually get charged. If I can't solve them, I'll have to go back to using my Verizon number. First, let me say that I'm using a new Google Voice number that isn't Verizon cell phone number or any other preexisting number. Second, my girlfriend is on my family plan, but she doesn't have GV yet. We're using the 700-minute plan, so we don't have a friends circle.
Problem 1: When I call my girlfriend's Verizon wireless phone using the GV on my Verizon phone, I get charged, and when she calls my GV number on my Verizon Wireless phone from her Verizon wireless phone, she gets charged. We don't cash in on our free in-network calling. I know, this should have been obvious, but it just never occurred to me until after I looked at the bill. I'd be able to work with that, though, and just select "Call without using Google Voice" or whatever when calling her if it weren't for the second problem. When people call my Google Voice number, I get charged when I don't answer. Usually, it's just a one-minute charge, but sometimes it's two or three minutes (don't know why). With anything less than an unlimited plan, minutes count. Not good.
I want to setup a second phone number using Google Voice. Some time ago I created a new number online and set it up on my previous cell. Now 2 years later I got a new cell and want to setup Google Voice, however the application behaves differently now and tries to integrate with my real phone number, and that is not my intention. During the install it verified my real phone number and tried to use it.
My question: how to set it up to use a number I created online long time ago? I clicked every option but could not find a way to repoint Voice to my second number.
I had my number ported to Google Voice and have been using it to make and receive calls for the past two weeks. I was also using it for texts, or so I thought, but yesterday I found out (by looking at my friends phone), that after I sent him a text, my carrier's number was the one that showed up as the sender, instead of my Google Voice.
I thought Google Voice automatically used your Google Voice number for texts too? Am I doing something wrong in the middle?
I use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)
I'm running Cyanogenmod 6. I just noticed that I can't find Google voice or Google maps in the market. I do have the apps installed, but can't see them int he market to get updates. I tried out LFY1.7 and Ultimate Droid 1.0.0, and see the same issue.
I received the invite for Google Voice/Phone today - I set up the phone, received my new number, and have even called the number to make sure it works...it does....But I want to be able to toggle back and forth from my verizon number and google number when making calls....how do I go about this....
When I enter a phone number for one of my Google Contacts and then choose "Google Voice" as the label (which is already a pre-defined label in the dropdown box) and then sync with my phone, the phone number in the People app shows "Call grandcentral".
I signed up with google voice through my university email and i can access it on my pc and what not, it says have a google number and when i call it i can get my voice mail, and i get transcribed voicemails and what not. however, when i downloaded the app from the market and and to activate it under 'voice' settings i get to the step where i enter my pin and the it says 'Your phone number could not be verified. Please try again later' what gives?i have tried over a week or so and it still gives me the same message. i read that if you chose the 'different' account option and type in your email that will work but when i do that it says my password is wrong. also, when i hold down the '1' on my phone it takes me to my Verizon voice mail, i though i was using google voice? i must say this is a very confusing service so far.
I have a droid, and google voice. I have setup my 5th number as xxx-xxx-xxxx, and tmobile as the name. If I go into GV settings and select :use google voice for all of my calls", does that mean that they will all be free since they are using the GV# for both in and out calls?
For those of you who have and use Google Voice on your Droid. Is there any way to use GV when you manually enter a number? I get the choice to use GV from my contacts list but not when I manually enter the number. Has anyone else had this issue? Please only respond if you have and use Google Voice. I'm sorry I don't have any invites so please don't ask.I also appologize if that sounds harsh but I've read through some of the other GV posts and no one really seems to answer the question.
I can text, receive text, and also receive calls from my Google Voice #.But when I try to make calls using my google voice # it keeps showing my actual phone number to the people I'm calling.I've set the phone to ask whether or not to use google voice or actual # and I've also tried the use google voice for all calls and I get the same results for both, it keeps calling from my actual #.Hopefully I'm making sense with my problem.
I am using a samsung capitvate on ATT. Android 2.1 I installed google voice and created a google voice account. I am able to send and rec sms through google voice and my new GV # but I can only send sms from my att number. I cannot receive any sms from my att number and people who are sending them do not get any kind of message they just get lost in the network somewhere. People in general and my boss are getting mad because they think I am just ignoring them.
Just got my desire yesterday and i'm wondering how to use google voice call? cus there's nothing in the manual i held the search button and said "call home" but it brings up the browser can someone give me a step by step guide on how to use this feature this is my first smartphone so go easy.
I just started using Google Voice last week and am in the process of dumping my BB Curve on my business line and using my GV number for work and having just one phone with multiple mail boxes (pretty exciting for me ) but in the demo videos I've seen they have the option to merge calls and also and this is a big one screen calls. I only get the stock screen on my DI when it comes in. How to use these features?
Why am I posting a GV question in the EVO forum? Because I don't know if this 'problem' is a GV thing or an EVO+Sense thing. So here goes. My GV account is set up with call filtering. That is where, when you answer the phone, an automated voice tells you who is calling and asks if you want to send to voicemail or answer, etc. It does this for every call. The annoying part is.
Didn't know if anyone had a similar problem or a fix. Google voice is working fine, but after installing doubletwist, about 80% of the time after I hang up a call, Doubletwist will launch automatically and play a random song. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Doubletwist, but no change.
Any ideas other than uninstall and leave off Doubletwist?
I have my phone set up with an All Call Block (outgoing caller ID blocked) with VZW. When I make a GV call using the Android app, it says something about the call can't be completed as dialed. Does the app not work with phones that have an All Call Block? I did call VZW to remove the block, but, since it's a corporate account, I needed a password, which I didn't have. But, I think she removed it prior to asking me for the password and GV appears to be working now. I want to see if anyone can confirm that definitely was the reason and if there are any workarounds for using the GV app and keeping my All Call Block. I can make a blocked GV call by manually dialing *67 then my GV # and using the dial out method, but that defeats the purpose of the GV app since that makes everything so easy. I guess the difference in using the GV app vs using a non-android phone is that the GV app dials a "special" number so, if I have the All Call Block, it can't see who I am I thought I recalled that if I dialed my GV number from my non-android phone with the All Call Block, it still recognized me (which is possible since the block only blocks caller ID, but the true number is still sent in the stream). So, bottom line, can I not use the GV app if I have All Call Block or is there a workaround?
I have had Google voice for a while now. And yesterday I added a line into my plan and got the Droid. I downloaded Google voice app and everytime I try to place a call it tells me I am unable to make the call. I did set my new number as the phone being used. Any suggestions? Or is there something up with Google voice?
