General :: Accidentally Put Kernel File On Bootloader In ODIN

Oct 3, 2013

So when updating my phone, I was all like 'I know how this show goes' and like an IDIOT I put my Samsung S2 i9100 kernel file on the bootloader spot and it boots to a black screen. I can still put it in download mode, and tried to install it the correct way but that doesn't matter.

General :: Can't Flash Kernel / Unlocking Bootloader - Xperia X10 Mini (E10a)

Feb 7, 2012

My android is rooted and sim-unlocked by Omnius.

I manually installed ClockworkMod Recovery. (to do this I had to remount the /system folder as rw, don't know if this is important, but wasn't in the installation instructions).

PC companion says my firmware is the lastest

I want flash this kernel. I think I can't unlock my bootloader...

I followed this guide to unlock the bootloader, using FlashTool or msm7227_omniusSL.cmd. Both processes complete without errors... But when I check with s1tool, the erom version has an uppercase "R".

When I try to flash, FlashTool throws the error:

06/056/2012 20:56:22 - ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="SECURITY_CLASS";ERR_DYNAMIC="SIN header verification failed"

Here are my s1tool and FlashTool logs:

Welcome to S1 identify tool

[Code] .......

Both BL unlocking methods were repeted several times, with equal logs...

General :: Specify Kernel Module Load Path In Config File?

Sep 28, 2011

I needed a tun.ko module for my kernel, so I tried compiling my own kernel.

The kernel did build OK, and also boots OK, the only problem is that I cannot load any modules.

It seemes, that the module tools (insmod, modprobe etc) looks for the modules in /lib/modules, and I have them in /system/lib/modules, so my wifi does not work, as I cannot load the module.

Where I can specify the kernel module load path in the .config file?

# cd /system/lib/modules
# ls -l
-rw-r--r-- root root 315403 2008-08-01 14:00 bcm4329.ko
-rw-r--r-- root root 211573 2008-08-01 14:00 tun.ko
# modprobe bcm4329.ko

General :: Permanently Block App From Getting Updated Accidentally?

Oct 9, 2011

I have a great calendar app and the developer warned in the notes to the last update that the next update would usher in ads. I don't want that. I don't have it set to auto update, so I know I can just not accept the update. But I know at some point in the future, my phone will say "found 14 updates" and I'll just hit "update all" and forget to check whether this app I like is one of the 14. Then I'll be stuck with ads. I'd love to be able to somehow disable it from updating period, or from even looking for updates. Is there a way to do this?

I use an HTC Incredible 2 running 2.3.3 and stock rom for now.

General :: Delete Voicemail Number By Accidentally?

Jan 5, 2013

I just got a Nexus 4 and activated it with a Straighttalk (at&t) SIMS card. I have been using Straighttalk for a while now and simply moved my cell # to this phone. I love the Nexus 4 so far although while I did something pretty silly.... I was messing around with the voicemail settings I accidentally deleted the Voicemail Number that was on the phone.

Now whenever I try to call my phone a voice message comes up which says "Sorry the person you have called does not have voice box set up ect...." Mind you that I did have a voicemail box set-up before I deleted this voicemail number on the phone. I have tried to replace the "Voicemail #" with my own cell phone number but that does not work. Also I have tried just holding down the number 1 but that same message comes up. When I call *86 it says "message cannot be completed as dialed".....

General :: Detach Wrongfully / Accidentally Attached App(s) From Market / Play Store

Mar 11, 2012

Usually Amazon App Store purchase or accidental force attach to Market/Play Store with Titanium backup, apps show up as purchased, but cannot be bought or installed. An error is given that states: 'The download of "app name" was declined because you haven't purchased it.'Detaching said apps from Market/Play store with Titanium backup has worked for me for ONE paid app, (I think) but not others.

Examples: NFS: Hot Pursuit worked, but Shadowgun, Soundhound: Infinity, Mixologist and others still show up as purchased. I've downgraded to earlier Market and detached, detached and cleared Market data and then rebooted, any number of combinations to no avail.

I contacted Play Store support, they said there's a special division working on this issue, and I received an email saying they'd contact me if they needed any details.
