Android :: Send Longitude And Latitude (GPS Coordinates) To Server
Nov 4, 2010
I made a simple Android application which gives the latitude and longitude of the place where I am via GPS and I want to send the coordinates to a Webpage and represent them on google maps. Which is the simpliest possibility to send the data to the server?
I am making a weather widget now , and there is a problem that how can I get some city name after getting latitude and longitude from google map. because I think we can't get weather data if can not get city name .
I'm trying to retrieve Latitude/Longitude informations of an image, but I always get 0.0 for lat/lon. But I know the image has this information inside, because I tried it with exiftools. When I use exiftools I can see the lat/lon values.
My Source: startActivity:
This should work, because I get the filename, or is this a total wrong approach?
On onLocationChanged event I want to save my GPS route (Latitude , Longitude). Later I want to load this data and draw the route. Who is the best way to do this, by using some array type (and save or load by using database) or XML files or something else.
I have the problem like this. I am having problem in getting the latitude and longitude on my phone.. So i create an application that only display the "Toast" once i request it to. using the LocationManager.NETWORK_PROVIDER, instead of gps. And I try it on my G1.. I found out that if the G1 is connected to my WiFi, i can get the coordinate of my position, without any problem.. once i turn off the WiFi of the phone. The onLocationChanged() is not triggered anymore, instead, onStatusChanged() is triggered.. And I get TEMPORARILY_UNAVAILABLE error.. So what i want to ask is :Is internet connection required to retrieve the coordinate ONLY?
I am new to android development and i have started working on an android application to perform following tasks. This application is to monitor the sales team of a company. write a service to run in background and get the current latitude and longitude of android device after getting a specific SMS from any number and then upload the latitude and longitude to a PHP web server without any notification to the user. Your thoughts or any code will be a great help for me as this is my first project of this kind..
I have an application where I try to get address of a location based on the latitude, longitude coordinates. When I try to print all the address of particular coordinates , I am getting only single address. I don't know if I'm wierd, but I haven't found any topic about the subject. The thing is, I have data with lat and lng stored in my SQLite database, and I want to get the nearest locations to the parameters I put in (ex. my current location - lat, lng).I know that this is possible in MySql, and I've done quite some research that SQLite needs a custom external function for the Haversine formula (calculating distance on a sphere), but I haven't found nothing yet, that is written in Java and is functioning. Also, if I want to add custom functions, I need the org.sqlite .jar (for org.sqlite.Function) and that adds unnecessary size to the app.The other side of this is - i need the Order by function from sql, because displaying the distance alone isn't that much of a problem - I already did it in my custom SimpleCursorAdapter, but I can't sort the data, because i don't have the distance column in my DB. That would mean updating the DB everytime the location changes and that's a waste of battery and performance. So if someone has any idea on sorting the cursor with a column that's not in the database, I'd be grateful too!I know there are tons of Android apps out there that use this function, but can someone please explain the magic.
