One of the HTMLs contains a form. I need to get the values entered in that form and use them in android code. the target of the form is the page itself and the method is GET.

Android :: WebView For Form Based Local AJAX Application

Feb 18, 2009

I'm thinking of using WebView as a container for "Form" based JavaScript+DHTML applications. This is simple fill-out-forms like you have on the web, but now on mobile like for note taking, order taking, and the like. This is to allow web developers to build the bulk of the application - Javascript will perform validation, computations, etc.On the Java side, I only need to implement database CRUD operations, and a ListView to scroll over the forms. To minimize the learning curve on the JavaScript side, I've been thinking on how to emulate AJAX calls so that the web developers don't need to learn new methods to call on the JavaScript-Java bridge. Of course this isn't possible using XMLHttpRequest, so I'm thinking of adapting JQuery or other Javascript libraries for this purpose.

Android :: How To Access HTML Form Data POSTed Through A WebView?

Aug 31, 2010

I've started to write an app which provides the user with an HTML form via a WebView. As the form is not under my control, the data filled in may be sent as either GET or POST request. My app is required to capture the transported form data, that is, get a hold on what was entered into the form fields. Using an adequate callback from WebViewClient such as onPageLoaded(), it is easy to capture form data from a GET request. However, I cannot find any appropriate method to allow the same for POSTed data, i.e., be able to access the HTTP POST message body containing the form data. Am I missing a relevant callback here or is there simply no way to accomplish the specified goal with the given API (even the latest level 8)?

Android :: Avoid User Input In A Field Of Form In A WebView?

Nov 1, 2010

When I load the touch Facebook login page in the webview, I want that the email field to be set to a value and it can't be modified and to accomplish that I have inserted a JavaScript code in the webview disabling that element. All works fine until I want to click the login button because the page refreshes instead of submit the login info. I've noticed that if I don't disable the item, the login button works fine but I don't know why occurs that.

What can be the problem? I've thought another way to make it works: Whenever the user try to modify the email field ignore whatever he do, but I think this is a less professional way to fix that.

Android :: Bugs Of WebView - Could Not Handle Color Values When Use HTML Code

Feb 11, 2009

I don't know where to put the bug report of APIs.

I use WebView to display some pages in my dictionary software. I met some problems with WebView.

1) could not handle the color values When I use the HTML code: <font color="#00FF00"></font> the WebView could not handle this type of tags. But <font color="red"></font> can work well.

This bug exist both in SDK1.0 & SDK1.1

2) Chinese Char: I use UTF-8 as the charset, and if there exist some Chinese chars, then this HTML code could not be displayed in WebView: <html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"></head> <body> <p><font color="red">[-------- 美国 统词典[双解] --------]</font></p> </body> </html>

This bug exists in SDK1.1.

If I want to correct a letter in the middle of a long piece of text, how do I get there? Currently I am using my big fat finger to try and place the cursor where I want but that is certainly not very accurate and usually takes several tries to get it where I want.Earlier today I was editing an email addr in contacts and the long text exceeded the text window. I couldn't figure out how to even see the beginning of the text.

Android :: Combining Subclasses Which Have Different Fields For Efficiency?

Feb 7, 2010

I'm working on a Java Android game. Games here generally need to use memory pools to avoid garbage collection.Making use of subclasses is a pain when using memory pools as you need to e.g. say how many Roamer and Chaser objects you want upfront and not just how many Enemy objects you might need.I would then have an update function that checked the "type" variable and updated accordingly. This is obviously a more C-like approach. It feels hacky though because e.g. a roamer enemy will have a "target" variable it never uses. I'm unlikely to have more than a 100 enemies in memory at a time though so it really isn't a big deal memory wise. I just want some compromise between nice code and speed.Does anyone have any comments on how best to structure this? Is merging classes like this going too far? Is this ever a good idea? Should I just use a regular class tree?

Android :: Private Fields Naming Guidelines

Jan 25, 2010

Here http://source.android.com/submit-patches/code-style-guide#shortmethods it is stated that :

"Field Names
* Non-public, non-static field names start with m.
* Static field names start with s.
* Other fields start with a lower case letter.
* Public static final fields (constants) are ALL_CAPS_WITH_UNDERSCORES.

also states that : "The rules below are not guidelines or recommendations, but strict rules. You may not disregard the rules we list below except as approved on a need-to-use basis." I don't like the "m" convention before private or package fields in a class... I really find this uninspired. I mean, if we try to apply good designs, the low coupling of the classes implies having few public fields. actually, in my programs I usually have no public fields, even when I need some I use getters and seters. so, why should I be forced to have almost all my fields in the program with an "m" in front of them? wouldn't be easier to have the few public fields, if there are any, with some "g" in front or something? or just use setters and geters as beans suggest? this really makes my code harder to read. also, following these guidelines, local temp variables used in the methods have no restriction so they could easily be mistaken for public global fields (also without restriction). this also I find to be wrong, as it is a probable source of mistakes. I understand to have a way of differentiating from fields, but private/protected member fields are the most used in an application, they shouldn't be less "readable". what do you think? should I follow the guidelines?

Android :: How To Implement Custom View With Variable Fields?

Jul 7, 2010

I have a ListView that displays a set of notes, each with varying ammounts of data (i.e. some have a due date, others don't).Currently, each view in the list is a RelativeLayout containing a TextView for each field, plus two Button and a CheckBox. I then simply hide the unused fields by setting visible false on each one. This has worked well, but I'm about to add a lot more data fields to the notes and inflating that many unneeded views for each row will surely kill my app. I need a more dynamic solution.I've decided the best way to go is to create a custom view. How can I implement/design my view so that it can display a variable number of text fields without creating/ destroying textviews each time (which would be quite expensive and worse than my current situation), or maintaining a large pool of hidden textviews?

General :: Music App That Prioritizes ALBUMARTIST Fields If Present

May 23, 2012

I have a bunch of collection albums. I love Touhou arranges, and these are usually done by a variety of different arrangers and vocal artists. To keep everything neat and clean, I have them tagged with the circle name in the ALBUMARTIST field and the track's arranger or vocalist in the ARTIST field.

I'd like apps that actually prioritize the ALBUMARTIST field when browsing by album. If the field is present, it should override the ARTIST field for grouping tracks together as albums when browsing music.

As far as I am aware, the only player that does this on ICS is the stock Google Music app. I don't particularly like it because it's very lacking in features. On CM7, the CyanogenMod music app did this and a whole boatload of other features including focus loss ducking.

I've tried just about every music player out there. DoubleTwist, PowerAMP, Winamp for Android, the new CM9 music app Apollo, but none of them do this very simple organizational thing that the normal Google Music app does.

Motorola Droid :: Android Browser - Date And Time Fields

Nov 8, 2009

I love my new Droid, but if I can't use it for work, I can't use it period. Anyway, here is the problem. I have a website which interfaces with the main dispatch server at Fujitsu Transaction Solutions. I wanted a phone that would let me go to that website and post dates and times for jobs to which I have been dispatched. Unfortunately, on the Android browser, the date and time fields are each 1 space short of being able to hold dates and times, i.e. the time fields are 3 spaces, but I need to put in, say, 1800 for 6 pm. Follow? It is hard to explain.

There is what I think is a Java applet that lets you select a date by clicking on a little calendar icon. I am sure you have seen these on travel websites. This icon does not show up on the Android browser. I checked the Android browser's Java compatibility, and it passed. I tried the 1nternet and Opera browsers, as well. 1nternet has the same issue, and Opera apparently does not work with Android 2.0, yet. I couldn't go to any typed-in URL with Opera.
