I'm a former iPhone user. I was happy with the iPhone but got bored with it. I'm still getting used the EVO. I love the screen size and the notification system. One thing I'm concerned about is the resolution. I've noticed in apps such as MLB At Bat it is not as crisp as the iPhone and the video in the app is not as crisp as it was on the iPhone. I don't think the resolution is bad but it concerns me that it will start to really bother me.

Samsung Galaxy S : Can SGS Have Better Youtube Video Resolution Than EVO

Aug 27, 2010

After using both the EVO and SGS for weeks, I find the SGS inferior to the EVO in very few ways. The most major one that it being a 3G phone, the Internet speed is of course slower than the EVO's (I have 4G in my area, Los Angeles). I enjoy watch Youtube and SprintTV on the EVO as both the resolution and streaming experience very good, however after watch the low res Youtube on the SGS a few times, I can't make myself watch it under 3G anymore (wifi is better but still not as good as EVO on 4G). But since we can consistently get over 1 meg on 3G, why can't the SGS do better in Youtube video playback? Is there any program that can trick the phone in thinking it is on wifi and playback in higher resolution?

General :: How To Change Default Video Recording Resolution

It always record video in 640x480 resolution. but in my stock rom It used to record video in 720p resolution.

I installed camera mx app from playstore and this app gives me 720p recording option. But I don't like this app. I want my default camera app to record 720p. can I edit camera.apk file to change the video recording resolution? or I will have to change some files of my custom ROM to change the resolution?

Android :: Using TargetSdkVersion? Should Support Full Resolution And Not Emulate A Lower Resolution Screen

Jun 26, 2010

I have a program that should work on Android 1.5, but when it's run on newer devices with higher resolution screens, it should support the full resolution and not emulate a lower resolution screen. As far as I can tell from the documentation, this should be simple.

I just specify

code:.........

The problem is that if I tell Eclipse to compile for 1.5, it refuses to accept this. It reports an error (targetSdkVersion is an unknown tag) and refuses to compile or run. If I tell it to compile for 1.6 it works fine, of course. But if I then try to install on a 1.5 AVD, the program immediately crashes with a java.lang.VerifyError. I'm clearly missing something simple. How do I get it to compile an apk that works under 1.5, but still includes the targetSdkVersion tag?

HTC EVO 4G :: Audio Codec In Videos

I don't bother to take videos with the Evo because of the embarrassing audio. It sounds so horrible I can't stand to listen! Anyway, I was looking at a developer's page that said you're free to use any codec supported by Android. However, the chart shows AMR narrow band as the only thing that will encode audio. It only works from 200-3400hz @8k bitrate. No wonder it sounds so bad.Do you folks know who to contact about using another encoder for video, not the same crappy one it uses for voicemails (which sound equally horrible).

Android :: How To Add Own Audio Codec To AudioRecord?

Mar 10, 2010

I currently have a Loop back program for testing Audio on Android devices. It uses AudioRecord and AudioTrack to record PCM audio from the Mic and play PCM audio out the earpiece. So as you can see in the creation of the AudioTrack and AudioRecord the Encoding is supplied via the AudioFormat but this only allows 16 bit or 8 bit PCM.I have my own G711 Codec implementation now and I want to be able to encode the audio from the Mic and decode it going into the EarPiece, So I have encode(short lin[], int offset, byte enc[], int frames) and decode(byte enc[], short lin[], int frames) methods but I'm unsure as to how to use them to encode and the decode the audio from the AudioRecord and AudioTrack.
