Android :: Couldnot Run Any Raw Aac Files - E.g Xxx.aac - In Native Music Player - Google I/O Phone
Oct 8, 2009
could not run any raw aac files (e.g xxx.aac) in native music player although OPENCORE has a raw aac parser ...
Aacfileparser.cpp (externalopencorefileformats
awaacparsersrc)
This looks like not integrated with Android framework layer through JNI. So music app does not have any knowledge of this file type ..

I have a Samsung Galaxy I7500 using android 1.5. I extended my phone with a 16GB microSD. I copied a big music collection (around 800 files) into a folder on this SD. Now the problem is that the music player can't find all the files.
I know that there are several threads about android not finding music. The answers are usually that the library hasn't yet been updated or that the ID3 tags are not correct.
I have checked both.
Btw. I can play the files using ASTRO.
In my opinion it seems as if android can't build up a library with too many entries. If I rename the files or put them into different folders, songs disappear and reappear quite randomly.
Do you have any solutions? Is there a music player which doesn't use the native music players index of files?

I copy all my music files into google music on my sd card! They all went away. The only thing that is left is the band title folder, they are all empty inside. Is there any recovery or did I make a huge mistake? sdcard/andriod/data/com.goole.andriod.music..I still have all my "on device music" from google.

Other threads say that adding mp3 files to the phone shouldn't slow it down. I have only 1gb of songs on the int memory - and the music player seems to take a good 20-30 seconds to read & list what's there every time I start it. is this normal?

In the stock music player in Android 2.1 (at least), the artist, album, and track name of the currently playing track are long clickable, which brings up a context menu "Search for NN with:", with links to different apps.UPDATE I've managed to extract the logs from my own device, doing a search for an artist, and selecting Google Listen to complete the action:03-02 11:59: 34.551 I/ActivityManager(86): Displayed activity com.android.music/. Media Playback Activity: 1758 ms (total 1953 ms) 03-02 11:59:35.691 I/ActivityManager(86): Starting activity: Intent {act=android.intent. action.CHOOSER cmp=android/com.android .internal.app.ChooserActivity (has extras) }03-02 11:59:36.781 I/ActivityManager (86): Displayed activity android/com.android.internal .app.Chooser Activity: 1036 ms (total 1036 ms)03-02 11:59:38.191 I /Activity Manager (86): Starting activity: Intent { act=android. intent .action.MEDIA _SEARCH flg=0x13000000 mp= com.google. android .apps.listen /.SearchList Activity (has extras) }03-02 11:59:38.511 D/Listen (491): Request search results for http://lfe-alpo-gm.appspot.com/search?q=Finntroll I will definitely pursue this myself, but this is quite new to me. I'd appreciate assistance here. Does the above mean that as long as I set up MEDIA_SEARCH intent as an entry point for an activity, it'll show up in the select list?

I'm torn between which group to post this too, but since it is for an application I am working on, I guess I'll stick it here. So here we go. I have an application which downloads data onto the sdcard to be used by the application. Some of these files are sound or music files and the music player in android seems to parse these directories and add these files to the list. I'd like to somehow block or hide these files from the music player. Is there is a way to do this? I was thinking it may be possible to name my folder with a period at the beginning, since linux hides such files. I'm just not sure if that is going to hide it from the music player or if there is another way to handle this.

I recently installed Asphalt 5. Apparently, you have to download some stuff in order to play the game. Anyways, I did download it and my problem is, there are sound files that are showing up on my music player. Ex: (raw_000~raw_174) Oh and the sound files are in ".ogg" format. I did some research and I tried the ".nomedia" method, but that didn't work.

Okay I've spent a lot of time searching forums, googling, and all that, but as far as I know, there is not a single player that supports gapless playback for mp3 files. I have found an app that can play lossless audio: andLess, but it crashes all the time on my Droid X. I haven't rooted yet, although I plan on doing it after the 2.2 update, but I'll throw away my plans if it means I can actually turn my phone into a competent music player. Is there any app out there that does those two things? I'll even settle for having two separate apps for each, but I don't see how this is so difficult an app to make. When I first got my phone, I was happy that I would no longer have any use for my iPod touch, but this is just saddening.

I installed a game from gameloft (Let's golf, great graphics btw)
Anyway I notice a bunch of sounds files were showing up in my music player I didn't want. Very annoying. I searched around here and didn't really find that much help. After some further searching around the net the easiest way I could find was as follows:
1. Open up notepad, don't type anything just go to file, save as. Change the drop down box for Save as type: select all files. Under file name simply type ".nomedia" without quotes.
2. Connect your phone to your computer, locate where the sound files you don't want are. In the same folder as where all the files are, drag the .nomedia file you made to that folder. Disconnect the phone
3. Reboot your phone, once booted open up the music player (you might still see the files there since it's cached) Go to the all songs tab, select a song. This will refresh the cache and you should no longer see any annoying files in your widget or playlist.
Before this I had to make a custom playlist and select that but everytime I rebooted I would have to select the playlist again plus if you add new songs you would have to go into the playlist.
Also if you don't know where the annoying files are, you should be able to hold down on it in the music application and go to details. This will show u where the files are located.

I've dumped my thumb drive and now use my smartphone (HTC V One) for the same purpose. One side effect is I now have a couple directories full of mp3 files that I'd like to hide from the music player (no, they aren't those kinds of files. They're work related, not music).
Is it possible to hide directories from the music player? Even better, can I tell the music player to only look under 'My Music' on the SD card?

I have music that is playable with Google Play Music player, but not with other players. I have chosen for the music to be "on the device", and it plays when even in Airplane Mode, so I know it is not streaming, but the music files do not show up in my "Music" directory tree, or under any other file trees that I can find. I have used ES File Explorer to do a top down search for some of the missing titles, but it doesn't find them. I'm perplexed. There must be a cache somewhere, but I can't find it.

I am seeing a very annoying problem with Google Listen on Android (I think this behavior has started since the most recent update a couple of weeks back, but I am not sure)I am using the Nexus One (Android v 2.1)
1. Start Google Listen, using the wired headset.
2. Start listening to some podcast
3. Press the play/pause button from the headset
4. With the old version of Listen, the podcast would be paused.
When you pressed the button again, the podcast playback would resume. This was very nice. However, now - when I press play/pause from the headset the music player starts up. Sometimes, the podcast stops when music player starts up, sometimes it continues to play. Sometimes I get weird error messages on listen. This is really annoying.

Is there any free music player app right now that can do that? I have tried all sort of music players such as google music, winamp, etc but all players requires me to manually press and hold each mp3 file to add to a playlist. Is there any app that allows us to choose all the files we want and subsequently add to playlist??

My music has ID3 version 2.3 tags (most common). About 10% (2,500) of my music is AAC (.m4a) format which is MP4 tagged. All my songs are very organized into 11 different genres. Everything has a title, artist, and album assigned to it and looks great in my iPhone, iTunes, MediaMonkey, and Mp3tag program. When I add my music to my Samsung Fascinate, it reads the tags of my .m4a music but when I go to genre, things are messy. It appears to be putting albums in the genre section (only with .m4a files). Example: Lets say I have an .m4a of Garth Brooks, Thunder Rolls, No Fences (album), Country (genre)In my Samsung Fascinate player, it will be found in the genre section under "No Fences". If I click "Country" genre where it should be, the song will not be listed there. It seems to be reading .m4a Album tags as genre and not reading the appropriate tag "Country".I hope someone can help straighten this out without having either manually edit each song tag OR convert all of them to .mp3 and deplete the song quality.

When I attempt to install the google music player from google play, it goes through the installation process, but then always says "Install" afterwards. It is never actually installed. I tried cycling power to my 7" Nook, but that did not work. I also checked for any hung process using the Elixer sysinfo tool, which did not work either.
Why the google music player won't install?
