I am really trying to figure this out. So I go into Messaging and I'd like to type in the "to" field a contacts name, like facebook does it and it starts to list matches and then you just pick the one you want. Like it searches your contacts, but I can't figure out how to do this. Like I can only type in a number but I don't have anyones number memorized that's the point of having a saved phone book so am I missing something here?

I'd like to create a custom field for contacts that the user is able to edit from the main Contacts app; however, the user should only be allowed to select from a list of four specific values. A short list of string values would be ideal, but an int with a min/max range would suffice.
I'm interested in knowing if it's possible either way, but also wondering if it make sense to go this route performance wise. More specifically, would it be better to look up a contact (based on a phone number) each time a call or SMS message is received or better to store my own set of data (consisting of name, numbers, and the custom field) and just syncing contact info in a thread every so often? Or syncing contacts the first time the app is run and then registering for changes using ContentObserver?

I was trying to read all Contacts field one by one and generated a v- card and store it into a database. When I have a huge number of contacts (say more than 150), while reading 155th contacts, I see my application is getting killed and cat log say it because of excessive JNI global refreences. Can anyone pls suggest what is causing the problem and how to solve it. Also, Im not seeing any errors if I have less than 150 contacts............
View 2 Replies View Relatedat the bottom you see a "Add relationship" field. If you click Add relationship, you are presented with a list of relationships. In here I selected Father. There is then an input box next to it.
What are you supposed to put in there? I've already told Google this contact is my Father, even if I put his real name in as the contact details, it still gives me that option.
At first I thought perhaps it was for Google Now. For instance, my girlfriend is down as her full name, so when I say "Call my Girlfriend" it would call her. However it seems like that isn't the case.
I have just received my HTC Desire, last week. It's my first Android toy.
I've noticed than when synching with Outlook Contacts on the PC, some fields are not copied to the phone, for example the 'car' field, which is an additional phone number field.
Other than this, My previous phone was a BB Storm2. At the moment, My opinion is that, THe HTC desire is faster than the bb, its browser much better, but for day to day 'real world' use, the bb is much much better. More reliable, and although less options, but gives you those that you realy need.

I tried with setting the value in a textedit and then make it invisible, but the result is that the value is invisible, but the control takes space.

Google recommends avoiding floats, and avoiding creating objects unnecessarily (and I assume any auto-unboxing code is bad too), so I take these as my constraints. I realize a small application probably doesn't need to worry too much, but I haven't been able to find a 'best-practice' solution to this.
The most common solution appears to be this:

I haven't gotten to play with Skyfire and xScope for an extended period of time so I was wondering the opinions of the users of this board which browsers they like the most and dislike the most, and most importantly, why. This is all with the 2.2 leak installed so Flash is a factor, and the stock browser does workna little better with Froyo installed. I know for certain that Dolphin isn't running so amazing now, Skyfire streaming flash videos doesn't let you skip to parts in the timeline, and xScope has the coolest icon.

View 8 Replies View RelatedThis weekend im going to be installing 2 antennas i ordered from wi-ex one is for 1X signal and the other is for 3G when pointing them im gonna be inside the house looking at the dBm while a friend is on the roof so i can try to get them both peaked i know when i go into test mode ##program and on the HDR Status Screen this is the 3G reception info but my question is which one should i be looking at the HDR RSSI or the Receive Power im thinking its the RSSI but i wanna be sure also the lower that number the better right? and for the 1X signal i goto the Call Processing Status Screen and look at the RSSI.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid.When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I obtain the name of the columns (_id, title, body) but not the value.
If I don't import R, I get "id cannot be resolved or is not a field" (R.id.mainanim); And if I import R, the id error is gone, but I get "main and mainanim cannot be resolved or is not a field". They're my xml files! Also here is ALL my code... maybe there is an error I didn't see?

I have an EditText field and a button. My aim is to let user enter text info to the EditText or click the button to launch a dialog to select some checkbox and radio button which it will perform some computation and return a value to display at the EditText field.
I can't seems to get the value to display at the EditText field after the dialog dismiss. I did try a toast to display the value and it is ok. I *think* the view was not refresh to display the text in the EditText field.
