Android :: Stomp Out Speed Compared To Droid / Better Processor - Phone?
Feb 13, 2010
So the milestone and droid run a 550mhz processor, correct me if i am wrong, and that can be overclocked to run faster.
But with the new phones like the Supersonic, and the Scorpian from HTC running at the 1.5ghz does that mean those phones will stomp out the speed compared to the droid. Does that make them better phones?
Since the Nexus One runs a 1ghz as well, does that make it faster than the droid?

I have a Google Nexus 4 with Android 4.2.2.I've just tried a speed test on it using the Android app (speedtest.net) and it says over wifi I'm getting about 1mps down/upload. I've also tried it on my laptop using the same wifi connection but through the browser using thier website Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test and it says im getting about 15 mps down and almost 1 upload.
when I go into Chrome and search for speedtest it goes to the play store with thier app, any way I can access thier site on my phone browser? the desktop site doesn't seem to work?

Ok, my question here is about the speed in which the Androids operate. I have a HTC Hero, I have it rooted and running the Fresh 1.1 ROM and the more I play with it, the more I don't like it. I work at a Verizon franchise and get to play with the Moto Droid all day and it is amazing at how much quicker it is. So, what I am asking is, is there antother DROID powered device besides the Nexus One that puts out similar speeds? And is there one for Sprint that is coming out soon or rumored to be atleast?

Is there an app that i can download that shows my processor speed? I have seen them on phones that have been rooted and overclocked, but never seen one for stock.I am on a Motorola Droid running stock 2.1-update 1. I dont want to hear "just root and overclock." If anyone knows of an app or tool that will show this.

So I've been looking at some videos on YouTube of the new HTC Desire and Legends. I've been paying attention mostly to the Legend, because it was more similiar specs to the Hero than the Desire does. I've noticed that the new Sense seems to run very smoothly on the Legend with its 600MHz processor. Now, we all know that the Hero can be quite laggy at times, and we all want some performance increase from the update. But how much better really is the 600MHz processor than the Hero's 529MHz? Are the videos of the Legend a good portrayal of how Sense will perform on our Hero's?

I've only had my Hero for just over a week and am more convinced now that I made the right choice for my mobile upgrade. It's fantastic. I just thought I'd add my 2p worth to the posts about the Hero and my (relatively) short time with it.
My last two mobiles, both on contract, were Symbian. I had the E61 first and just upgraded to the Hero from a Nokia E71. The E71 was a great phone, but the OS is looking old and tired now. I like Symbian very much as a mobile OS, but it hasn't been updated enough to keep up with the times and it is increasingly becoming a frustration to use. After nearly three years, I really needed a change and Android was the obvious choice.
The biggest gripe almost all reviewers have with the Hero is the laggy performance. Well, yes it does start to stutter if you have a lot of apps running and I suspect this is as much to do with the processor as with Android. It's a relatively new OS and will take time to get things working properly. As for the frustration of the lag, I have to disagree with the reviewers, but for different reasons.
If you want to experience a slow OS with constant lag, no matter how many apps are running, you should spend some time with Symbian. It is painfully slow compared to the Hero, even on a bad day. There really is no contest. So, it really does depend on what you're used to and what you expect. I expected similar performance from the Hero, based on the complaints in many reviews, to my Symbian running E71. Yet, in reality, the two are poles apart! I'd never go back to the Symbian we currently have after spending eight days with Android on the Hero. Everything is much faster and looks absolutely amazing.
The features of the Hero as a mobile phone are astounding and I think Android does well in its current incarnation to take advantage of them. I am very, very happy with my choice of mobile. I spent a number of weeks deciding on which mobile to go with as I took out a new 18mth contract and knew I could be stuck with a poor choice for the duration. My fears about the poor OS performance weren't borne out because of what I'm used to using on the E71 and that was a relief.
Like or hate Google, they have a lot of resources to throw at their OS and that can only mean good things for us fans of innovation. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Symbian shapes up over the next few years and whether it can become a real contender for the open OS crown. In the meantime, I am having a blast with my new best friend. I also take my hat off to HTC, they certainly know how to produce excellent phones.

Tried searching but havent found anything that specifically answers the question. I had heard that the processor was actually clocked down into the 700s out of the box even though its a 1ghz processor. Is this true? if it is about what are we running at?

I've been deciding for days whether to go with HTC Legend or HTC Desire. The processor speed is what gets me, is 600mhz enough for alot of multitasking or should i throw up the extra 100 dollars and get that 1ghz processor.
Edit: Also can it play HQ videos on youtube with sufficient speed.

I new here & new to Galaxy which i brought a month ago. I am running JC6 Drakaz. I wondering, may be this is a dum question but can the OSX of Iphone can be installed instead of Android. I thought few things are common like screen resolution, almost similar processor speed. With OSX you will get all multitouch, good performance and of coerce ITunes store.

I've heard that theae 2 processers are very similar but obviously there must be a few differences. Does anyone know where I can find a comparison between the 2 or can someone compare them for me here?I'm just curious really. Both are really good I hear.

I have had my droid for 21 days now. The first week I was frustrated because I could not use my "backup assistant" which I have used for a long time to transfer my contacts. ( im sure they will come up with an "app" for that soon, and it works very differently than my old LG. Once I worked through the basics of using the phone I started to notice I have very poor reception at my home. (This is really bugging me because my husband has the FREE LG flip phone and has perfect service everywhere in the house) I buy the best and he gets the free phone and he talks anywhere but I have to go out on the back porch or stand by the back door with my head against the window in order to talk to somehone. Part of me really wants to return it for that reason alone, but I love the other features of the phone and don't know if I want to give them up. Has anyone else had issues with poor signal quality>

My website uses jQuery and the it's main feature uses a loop. On the desktop, all 3 browsers (GC, FF, IE11) executes the loop approx. 1,100 times a minute. On Windows Phone, it does 1,000 times a minute, a bit slower. But on Android in particular, it only gets about 500, and the UI updating is slow. I don't know about iPhone.why my jQuery is running much slower on Android then the rest of the platforms I've tested?

Have somewhat limited exposure but what I do have on Android Apps is not positive. The Apple Apps store is far superior to what you get with AppBrain and Market. The Android Apps always give a very vague and sketchy description, next to impossible to get details of what it does.I bought Bettercut and Cashbook - Expense Tracker, both sucked in a big way.Already uninstalled both. The open architecture of Android is a great concept and I love my DroidX.I hope the apps come along soon to make the whole thing complete.

I came from the Blackberry Storm 2 and just wanted to point out how much better my signal is with the HTC Eris compared to the S2. I work at Colgate U. and am in a concrete room with a very old concrete or stone building. Usually with the S2 I got 0 to 1 bars of signal. With my HTC Eris I am getting 2 to 3 bars of signal and can carry a conversation without dropping a call. What was you previous phone and how do the signals compare?

Im new here and just wanted an opinion on some info i just received about these 2 processors. I was originally under the impression that the hummingbird processor is faster but have been informed that infact the ti omap is actually a faster processor but lacks the better gpu. also was informed that the memory the droid x uses is faster than the Samsung galaxy s phones. Is this info correct and is this why froyo 2.2 is not giving me any kind of performance boost. the droid x my family has seems to of benefited greatly from the 2.2 update and is making my fascinate look like a out dated piece of equipment.

Just tried to oc to 1.3 ghz, tons of random reboots so i went down to 1.1 ghz, with the same thing. So I guess I'm stuck at 1ghz for now. Could this be the ROM I am running (smoked glass v4.0) or is 1 ghz just the max for my phone to be stable? How fast are you guys going while staying stable?

I don't know what has happened with my phone recently. I had flashed ss4.8, ss4.9, lfy 1.9, and now cyanogenmod 6.1 RC3. My phones internet browser has force closed constantly on every ROM I mentioned above. Its never done this before. I can't even hardly load or scroll through a web page and it force closes almost everytime I use the internet for more than 5 mins. The phone itself has been horribly slow too no matter what kernel I use. I noticed something about JIT in the cyanogenmod settings, could this possibly have something to do with it? I have no clue I'm just shooting in the dark but my phone has been almost unusable.

Since a 1Ghz OMAP processor doesn't really have the zing that the Snapdragon and the Humminbird processors do... what would you name it?
My top 3 choices are:
1. 1Ghz Cheetah processor (for fastest land animal)
2. 1Ghz Falcon processor (for fastest diving bird in air)
3. 1Ghz Veyron processor (for fastest production car)
It doesn't have to deal with speed, it could deal with power or finesse. Whatever you'd like. hehe Lets see some creativitiy!

looking for some educated feedback on this, is the droid really better in terms of power than the eris? i returned the eris because i thought it was too slow and didn't stack up to what the droid is, but was i wrong?
i look at the verizonwireless website and they have the same stats, except for the keyboard of course. but then i hear some htc users say that the eris is just as powerful as the droid and can do everything that the droid can in terms of performance. on the other hand i get people telling me that the droid is the 'powerhouse' and ive read that the droid is the 'high-end' phone. people have told me about better cpu/processor/memory - is this true and is it noticeable? and will it effect the phones longevity compared to the eris for the future? i heard that it will as more updates comes out... someone told me that the eris will never be up to par with the droid hardware wise and that the droid is the safe bet if you want the most from future updates ... also read that the eris will be 'long in the tooth' (old) faster.

I've read a couple of reviews on the Moto X and they all say that at times the phone felt sluggish and that the shutter speed on the camera can be slow at times. I know that "at times" doesn't mean it's a slow processor but vs. the incredible which is being touted as the phone that blows through any task with ease I was wondering which phone has better performance.

Just curious if there is an app on the android market that would allow me to do credit card processing thru my phone. I've seen the attachment hardware for the iphone and also the straight software where you enter in credit card information manual into the phone.
This would be a huge thing for me, as I currently do a lot of mobile credit card processing with a machine that costs me a lot of money would be great to get rid of it.
