Android :: Setting Default Contact Group

Nov 7, 2010

Is there a way that every time I turn on the contacts app it goes straight into one of the groups I've created, say "friends"? Right now every time I open the contacts app it shows all the contacts in my phone. I want to go to my "friends" group instead. Is that possible? Or do I need another app?

Android :: Setting Default Contact Card

Jun 5, 2010

I can't seem to set my default contact card in Android. When I open the contacts app (People) there is an entry for my Facebook account that says "My Contact Card" but I don't really use Facebook. All my info is in an entry in Google contacts. How can I change the default contact card? Also, this might be related. When I text with my girlfriend her picture shows up but mine does not. All contact entries for me have my picture so I'm wondering if it has to do with my default contact card.

Samsung Galaxy S :: How To Clear Mark As Default Contact Setting?

Sep 30, 2010

I'm using a Galaxy S phone (Epic 4G) and I have the following problem.I created a shortcut to a contact on the Home Screen like this:

- from the home screen, menu->add->shortcut->contact

- contact manager comes up; select contact

- the icon appears on the home screen.

Then when I tap the shortcut, it pops up a menu (call/info/message/email icons). Tapping the "call" icon displays all the available phone #s for that contact. However, I used "Mark as default" to set a default number for that contact, and now it dials that number right away instead of giving me the choice of numbers. I want to UNDO this, and clear the default number setting but I cannot figure out how to do it!

Android :: Can Edit Contact Group Of Google Contacts On Handset

Feb 11, 2010

I have them filtered on the Handset so that only those marked as Friends or Family under Gmail contacts are shown. I can't help this as otherwise I'd have well over 1000 contacts to scroll through on my phone.

My issue is that should I add a contact on my phone it doesn't appear. This is obviously because when it's created it has no group membership. It still resolves against SMS etc but is not displayed in the Contacts list. I can (when near a computer) quickly jump onto gmail, manage contacts and put the person into the right group but ideally I'd like to be able to do this on the handset.

Is there any way at all of editing Google Contact Group membership on the handset? I certainly can't find the option if it exists. Alternatively is it possible to change it so when the contact is create on the handset that it automatically saves as a 'Friend'.

Android :: Contact List Transferred In Same Group - Hard To Search Any?

Feb 1, 2010

My HTC Hero was delivered today and I am having problems with my contact list. I have 500 plus names and numbers that have been transferred from outlook to the hero and they have come over in the same groups as in outlook but I need more than that. On my windows based palm top (that I am hoping to replace with the hero) I can search for either a persons name or the name of the company they work for.

About 400 of my contacts are work related and I might only use them once or twice a year and without being able to search for a company name I can not find them. It is further complicated because in a lot of cases a company name might have 3 or 4 different people under it. Does anyone know of a contacts app or upgrade that would give me the functionality that I am looking for?

On my previous blackberry curve 8900 I could select multiple numbers/email addresses from the same contact to go into the group.

Android :: Default Launcher Setting Not Sticking

Sep 13, 2010

I'm using Launcher Pro and just yesterday I started having the issue where if you long-press Home and switch apps, you remove your default launch choice and then need to reselect it the next time you short-press on Home. It remembers the setting until I again long-press and use the app switcher. My question: how do I get this to stick? What 'app' is used to do the app switch by default, and is there anything else I could use to do this? I would hate to be stuck with this permanently, and I'm not thinking it is LauncherPro's fault. What other apps could conflict and cause this behavior?
