Android : On Screen Keyboard Always Displays On Galaxy
Aug 13, 2009
I have a layout with a TextView and a List, and in onCreate() I have the TextView request focus. On the G1 and emulator the screen comes up with the TextView having focus, and the on-screen keyboard will display when you tap on the TextView, but on the Galaxy apparently the on-screen keyboard is always displayed. Does anyone know why this would be so? And why would a phone without a keyboard act differently from a phone with a keyboard that's hidden--shouldn't they follow the same logic?
I'm using Docs to Go on my Incredible. If I have the keyboard open in the landscape view, it only displays half a sentence of text and I can't scroll through the text at all. It makes editing impossible. Any ideas how to fix this?
I use a car stand to hold my phone and would like to have the Sense displays rotated. When the keyboard is open, the Sense screens rotate horizontally.I've looked at the settings and whiles apps rotate when Horizontal with the keyboard is closed, Sense won't rotate unless the keyboard is open.Is there any way to get the Sense displays to rotate with the keyboard closed?
I created a Galaxy Tab emulator using these instructions: http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/galaxyTab.do
When I install my 4x2 widget on the emulator it displays like it does on a phone (full width, half the height). However I went to try it out on an actual device in Best Buy and there it displayed as if there is room for a 5th row and column. First of all, why is there this discrepancy? Second, how would I create a 5x5 widget?
I have a listview that when you click on an item it will take you to a WebView that displays some static formatted text associated with that list entry.
I had it all working with a TextView but I wanted to be able to use HTML formatting for the text and figured the WebView was the way to go. Right now it is just supposed to display a generic link for testing purposes but when the viewContent intent starts it just goes to a black screen. I can go back and pick another entry and it also just shows the black screen.
I'm not sure what code you are going to want to see so here's the viewSection class file and the viewsection.xml layout.
Suppose my application xyz stores a few contacts(just like in the address book/ telephone book). Other contacts are by-default stored in my Android address book. Suppose I receive a call on the handset with my app xyz running in the background. All I need is to fetch the Caller's name from the application xyz and display this name as" Akash Calling..." instead of "+91... calling..." assuming that caller's details are present in the application say, his name and none of his details in the actual address book. Is this feasible.
I am new to android programming and have a strong keen interest to learn it. I want to write a program that fetches the data from a website, segregates it and displays it on the screen of the phone. The data could be grocery list from a supermarket or sale items in a mall. Could you please suggest as to how I can go ahead and start this.
I have seen the below log message when navigating to the Account & sync settings screen but I am confused as to how to create an Intent to navigate there.I dont seem to have access to the ManageAccountsSettings for development.I just wanted to create an Intent such as below, but I cant call out ManageAccountsSettings.
Yesterday I was listening to Pandora and I wanted to snap a picture with my EVO, so I hit the 'Home' button and then opened the Camera app. After that the little camera icon showed in the middle of the screen for a second or two and disappeared. Next the screen was blank. I also tried the camcorder and the screen was also blank. I've done many resets/pulling the battery out and I still have no luck. Any ideas as to what is causing my camera to not work at all? The only way to exit out of the blank screen is to press the 'Home' button on the phone.
I am new in Android and i am working to make an on-screen keyboard which can be visitable via arrow(direction) keys of my external keyboard. I mean i wanna move left, right, up and down in the on-screen keyboard's UI (keys) with pressing arrow keys from my external(hardware) keyboard. The key that cursor is on should be focused, when i press an arrow key from my external keyboard the focused key should change and when i press "enter" from my external keyboard it should be operated.(written to the screen etc.) How can i make this? Is there any idea? How can i make virtual keyboard's keys visitable? It doesn't look like moving around a matrix of buttons.
Dont get me wrong, the QWERTY keyboard is sick, and I love it. But after typing on the keyboard for while, I wanted to switch it up, so I tried the on screen key pad. And to my surprise, the on screen keyboard appears to be much quicker than using the QWERTY!
So through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.
The Android keyboard has a "Android Keyboard Settings" screen in the Settings->Locale&Text menu. I am developing an input method, using the Sample keyboard program as a starting point. How can I add a Setting screen for my keyboard, in the Settings->Locale&Text menu, similar to the Android keyboard ?
I can toggle it from the IMM but can't seem to detect the current state. In any event, there must be a cleaner way - after I get some text input from the user I want to restore the screen without making them press the back key.
So was playing with new galaxy s last night and the Samsung keyboard is really awsome. It has the smaller keys like the iPhone which seems to make it more accurate and it has multi touch. Has anyone heard of a port of this keyboard? I haven't seem anything on this and I'm supprised because it is a great keyboard.
Is it possible to add secondary functions onto the keyboard? I hate having to keep changing to the numbers screen just to put in 1 number. It has it on the swype keyboard but to get the spelling correction it has a huge box that comes up over the text entry screen . I want to be able to hold down a key to get a number for the occasional number.
