Android :: New N1 - Applications Or Gmail Account?

Apr 6, 2010

I just received my Nexus One - will be hooking it up with TMobile tonight. I have an apps account that is my primary everything. I also have a gmail account that just forwards all email to apps. But my picasa and googleTalk are on the gmail account. I don't know what account to make my primary and am looking for some guidance. Is it easy to switch back and forth? I prefer my apps account for contacts etc but I think I will like the googletalk and other aspects of a vanilla gmail account.

Android :: Can Use Google Applications Account In Gmail Application?

Nov 16, 2009

So the one factor that will decide if I will buy the Droid or not, is if I can use my Google Apps standard addition gmail address, ie hikingfan@your-group.com, with the native gmail and google calendar applications on the Droid. Does anyone know if this is possible and whether it works well or not? Are there any other limitations to using a Google Apps account on the Droid, like access to the marketplace? Thank you so very much, I desperately want to use the Droid for my work phone but I want to make sure that I can actually do work on it.

Android :: Delete Original Gmail Account & Repurchase Applications

Aug 20, 2010

I had to delete my original gmail that I used to set up my Droid last year. I factory reset the same phone and created a new Gmail account. Why do I have to buy my apps all over again if I am using the same phone, credit card etc.? Isn't there something that Google can do to verify it is still me and the same phone that I want to download my apps to? Has anyone been in a similar situation? Who can I contact?

Android :: Removing Secondary Gmail Account Affect Paid Applications?

Nov 28, 2010

I originally setup my Droid with my Google Apps account as primary. A few months ago I decided to buy a paid app in the Market and couldn't do so using my Google Apps account. Reluctantly, I added my Google Account as a secondary account on my phone, which allowed me to purchase apps in the Market. Now that I can finally use Google Checkout with my Google Apps account, I would like to remove my Google Account from my phone, since I'm tired of being prompted to select an account each time I create a new contact. Will removing my secondary account affect apps that are already installed? What about when updates become available for these apps in the Market?

HTC Desire :: Suspected Applications - Gmail Account

Sep 4, 2010

Have a feeling it may have happened via the phone, Anyone know of any suspect apps from this list. 3G watchdog, abduction, adblock Plus, alchemy, appbrain, astro, batteryLife, BattStatt, Blocked stone, Blow up, Bookmarks to SD, Bump, Chrome to Phone, Dolphin, Dropbox, Goggles, Sky Map, Handcent, Layar, Maps, Mini Info, MSN Talk, My Tracks, myPlayer, OpenSudoku, Rainy Days, Ringdroid, Robodefense, Rockplayer, Shazam, ShopSavvy, Shot 3, Speed Test, Super Tumble, Tajm, TIKL, Tunee Music, Tunes Remote, Unified Remote, Urbanspoon, voice Search.

Obviously some clearly legit apps there but has anyone heard of any problems. It also neatly coincided with google asking me for my phone number as a backup in case i forget my password. Defo legit as that pop up came through secure google login.

Android :: Transferring Paid Applications To New Google Account?

Mar 21, 2010

Something happened that should've never happened and now I have to make a new google account and try to rebuild everything. Gmail, igoogle, voice, etc. I did some poking around, but it seems no one has ever asked about any way of transferring paid apps from one google account to another. Is this possible, or am I now $20+ in the hole on apps I can no longer use on top of everything else that has happened? For some reason, google flags things that the built-in search can't catch. I have also tried setting my username to "anon@usc.edu" , "anon@gmail.com", or simply "anon". These are the settings I use:

Incoming mail settings
Imap
Imap.gmail.com

I won't bother including outgoing email settings because I have yet to even make it past the incoming settings page.

Earlier today my phone lost both of my email accounts (exchange and gmail). This seems to be a common issue with no solution from what I've read. In order to get my email accounts to work again, I have to delete the accounts and then set them up again (the accounts are still in my phone, but they don't work). The problem is, I cannot delete my gmail account without doing a factory reset. Have any of you had your phone lose your email accounts and been able to reactivate your gmail account successfuly?

Android :: Change Gmail Associated With Google Account?

Mar 4, 2010

This is driving me insane. When I setup my Hero I had to setup a gmail account, even though I have a Google Account. I setup a gmail account to get the phone setup. I now want to make my gmail account something that makes a little more sense to me. I am not using my gmail account but apparently it shows on Google Latitude to my friends, etc. My question is how does one unlink a gmail account and add a new one? When I go to my Google Accounts to delete gmail it says it will take about 2 days. I wait 2 days and nothing happens. If I attempt to add Gmail back to my Google Account is hows my old address and will not allow me to create a new one. Is it not possible to change the linked gmail address to your google account??

Android :: Sync To Gmail Account Without Contacts

Jun 16, 2010

I am new to Android. In fact, I am still waiting for my new android device (Samsung Galaxy S),I should receive it within a few days. I would like to do the following:
I want to use my gmail account from my phone and have all emails sync on my device. But I do not want to sync my gmail contacts with my "local" contacts (local being the contacts stored on my phone). I only want to sync my emails.

I read on another web site that one guy managed to sync his Outlook contacts with his Android phone contacts, but once he started to configure his gmail account, all his local contacts were automatically saved in his gmail account, and vice versa. Is there a way to use gmail with only emails sync, and without contacts sync? I prefer to be sure that it is possible (and know how to do it) before starting to use gmail on the phone. My Outlook contacts contain lots of professional contacts that I do not want to see in my private gmail account.

Android :: Viewing Different Gmail Account In Browser?

Dec 20, 2009

I tried searching for this information but could not find anything about it. I am considering an Android device (one of the ones on the Rogers network in Canada - and yes I am aware of the "they're all on 1.5 with a chance that they will never be updated" issue) but have some uncertainties. From what I have read, I can use the HTC Sync app bundled with the Magic/Dream to get my Outlook (pst) contacts into a Gmail account (which is the primary repository for all PIM info in Android, right?) and then the Google Calendar sync to get my Outlook (again, pst) calendar events. Super. Completely understand that (assuming what I said was right).I've also read (repeatedly) about how you can only have one gmail account in the mail application. I can tolerate that (don't like it, but can live with it). However, if my understanding is correct, Android comes with a Mozilla HTML browser, right? If I opened that and went to http://mail.google.com/ would it open the primary gmail account (the one the phone is linked to) or would it prompt for user/password? Further, if it does autologin, what if I clicked the sign out link and logged in as a different user? Would the phone go "kerpluey"? To be clear, I'm not expecting Android to sync ANYTHING from this other account; just wondering if I could access (read/respond) the gmail via the web browser. (Example: we're out and my wife wants to look up something in her gmail account using my Android smartphone is that possible?)Also, I read about some people discussing the installation of a second instance of the gmail app to get multiple account support. Is that even possible on 1.5? What would it do to things like contacts?
