You can not turn off the twitter update on the eris. You can turn off facebook and flickr updates all together. Anyone know how to address this of if HTC is aware of this bug. I use Seesmic for twitter because peep is ok but kind of lacking on any usefull features and peep is always running in the background no matter if you even kill it.
I received my wife's Eris last night and was setting it up for her. For some reason it wouldn't let me log into her facebook under the social network settings. She wanted to do this so she can see birthdays and have contacts connected with their fbook profiles. It would not let me log her in. It says that the service is currently unavailable. I can log her into the android facebook widget and the mobile site but not this. I started messing around with my Eris to see if I could figure out what is wrong. I logged myself out and now I am getting the same message. I have been using this setting since day one with no problems. My wife has the update and I do not yet. Has anyone else ran into this issue.
I retrieve a JSON list of contacts from a social network site. It contains firstname, lastname, displayname, data1, data2, etc...
What is the efficient way to quickly lookup my local phone contacts database and "match" them based on their name. Since there are firstname, lastname and displayname this can vary. What do you think, how can the best match be achieved?
Also how do I make sure I don't parse for each JSON item the whole database I want to avoide having JSON_COUNT x MOBILE COUNT steps
I was wondering if its possible to "upgrade" my phone to support different networks? (ie. I have the Desire HongKong, which supports 850/1900 HPSA, but want to know if there is an upgrade I can perform to support more/different networks? Say 900/2100 HSPA?
Hey see if yall can help me out. I don't like the Facebook widget because its so boring. Is there a fun app/widget out there that is better? Also, maybe one that integrates many social networking websites in one?
I've had this phone since Tuesday and it's not made it from morning to night one time. I am using it, yes, but I thought that was the point. My usual routine is wake up, check the twitter/facebook feeds, log in and check email, browse a few web pages, and get moving. today, i did all of that and took a walk and listened to a cd for an hour on the doubletwist player. i took a single photo. and made one very short phone call. it is nearly dead. it's been off the hook since 830 and it's only 3. I could do all this minus the music playing part on my blackberry, which was ancient 8830 and i would still have juice by midnight tonight. and it should be noted, blackberry constantly pushed my email--i have k9 set to manual, as i do with the facebook and twitter/social media widget. so that instantaneous access that's supposed to be so useful and exciting--i don't have it.
i've done all the usuals, turned off the bluetooth, the wifi radio, the 4g radio (the whole point of the damn phone), lowered screen brightness to the very lowest number, making it totally useless in bright daylight and i mean completely useless-can't see to answer a damn call), i have the screen lock to 15 seconds. i have the autosyncing off, i have the whole phone crippled, and it's about to die. does anyone have any suggestions? i was using launcher pro, but want to go back to the standard touchwiz--only bummer is i can't swap out the messaging icon for handcent which i installed over the regular msging app--because ppl said it uses less battery drain-- but not sure how to disable the old one. i am using live wallpapers, but again, how much of a drain can they really be overall? i turned off the animations, is this a lemon? will rooting make it better? will the new upcoming os make it better? or is 6 hours of usage all i can expect? srsly, i would like to know, because if that's the case, i will go back to the blackberry. i don't care how fancy the phone is, if you can't use all the fun things without it dying, then what's the point?
I am working on a home screen widget. I hope this widget can support auto rotation. For example, if the phone is in portrait mode, I want this home screen widget to be 2 cell * 2 cell on the home screen; if the phone is in landscape mode, I want this home screen widget changes be 3 cell * 1 cell on the home screen.
I have a TextView in my home screen widget. Can I use the following selector as the background of the TextView so the TextView can be highlighted when clicked? I know I can do it in Activity, but I am not sure about home screen widget.code...
Any file manager app that also has widget functionality? There are a few folders on my SD Card that I occasionally need to access (I currently use Root Explorer for this), which have various types of files in them. I would like to place a widget on one of my home screens so that I can directly have the file manager open up to a desired folder location.
Reading the new hands on over at Tech Radar has got me pretty excited about the X10 - seems a remarkable beast. But they seem to suggest a lack of widget support on the device - leaving me in a quandery, I love the widget support of the HTC Hero (and its successors), but am truly tempted by the X10s larger screen, its Racheal/Time/Mediascape UI and camera technology. So far, has anyone noticed support for widgets on the device? Obviously certain widgets are redundant with Time/Mediascape, but news, weather widgets are a big draw for me.
I'm trying to remember the name of a social app that was kind of like Foursquare for your credit card. Every time you swiped your card at a store, your friends would be notified of where you swiped it... something like that. What was the name of this app?
I'm looking for an app that i can use for all of my social media sites. One that will allow me to post something to all of them with only having to go to one app. Ive searched the market but don't really know what to look for.
I'm looking for cross-platform social gaming platforms, essentially for high-scores and achievements but also for multi-player.
Basically I came across two solutions: - ScoreLoop (http://www.scoreloop.com): lots of features but is closed for new developers (temporarily?) - Casmul [url]: less features and looks a bit... amateur.
I'm getting a Vibrant warranty replacement. What will happen when I re-download apps like LiveProfile and Hey Tell? Will I still have my accounts?I can't remember if they're associated with my gmail or not. Will my friends lists remain intact?

I have searched for this for a while now and have not found what I was looking for (if something like this even exists). Is there an SDK of some sort or a package program that would basically give a place on a server for a database and a membership system that is easily integrated into a android app I am developing? Something that would connect the users in my app like they do in instagram, or words with friends, or pretty much any other multiplayer game. (i am not looking for a facebook connect, or a twitter connect. just something that connects just my app together so to speak)
I need to write an Android application that allows a user to connect to multiple social networking sites like MySpace, LinkedIn, FaceBook etc. and fetch friends list.
I know that most of these applications have Java libraries or functionalities exposed as REST based WebServices. But since there is a lot of variety and disparity in the ways that these libaries are written or service that can be consumed, is there any single, integrated service or middleware component that I can use to provide a unified interface in my mobile application?
I have the Bell version of the Galaxy S. What is the social hub meant to do? All mine seems to have is a link to gmail, sms and f/book. If that's it doesn't seem too intersting but I assume I haven't set it up properly? Samsung don't seem too good at providing good user documentation. I've moved from blackberry so I'm a bit new to these functions.
im looking for an app that can show me recent facebook, instagram, and twitter posts close to my location. i found "tweets nearby" but its twitter only. there seem to be plenty for seeing places nearby, as well as friends nearby, who sign up to the same app.
Have anyone figured out how to get some options when merging two contacts in Social Phonebook (I know it doesn't prompt for any, but any workarounds)Basically the annoying factor is this... When I have a "Phone Contact" with the name "ABCD" and "Facebook" contact of the same person with "BCDE", after merging, phonebook starts to display as "BCDE" and not "ABCD" and to worsen, though I edit it manually to display the name I like, it doesn't.
