Android :: My Emails Are Disappearing From My Gmail Inbox
Oct 21, 2010
I've heard this happening with Gmail to other people, but I didn't believe it, now it's happening to me. I had a very very very vitally important email sent to me yesterday, and after viewing it, it just vanished. Gone for good. I can't find it. I've checked every folder, I've checked All Mail, I've checked trash, I've checked spam, drafts, everywhere. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've had an email vanish in the past 3 months. Completely gone, as if it never existed, without me deleting it.Has anyone else experienced this with Gmail? I know a few people who don't use Gmail for this very reason, but I thought they were crazy, now it's happening to me. HELP! I need that email back
I'm on Android 2.3.5 and have a HTC Desire S but my emails keep disappearing from my inboxes, I can't find any option to keep them for a specified amount of time, am I missing something simple?weapon90 06
Ever since i rooted my DX (rooted and deodexed with revolution), i've been having this weird email problem. When i go to delete emails in my gmail inbox on my phone they delete off the phone, but not in my actual gmail inbox online. Because when i delete the emails off my phone the inbox counter still reads all those emails that are still there. Well when i go online to delete them it goes back to normal. How can i fix this to where i dont have to keep goin online to delete emails?
I've had my phone for a month now (Vodafone in UK) and have pretty well mastered most things except my email.I set up the gmail account as required and access that via an app no problem. The main email account I set up to access my Messenger Live email account. This was a doddle as I just entered my address and password and it set up immediately. I should have known it wouldn't be that simple! It downloads and sends my mail just fine but after a few days all mail disappears so that I have no record of it's ever having been there. It's still all there on my Live account when I log in via my computer.
What am I doing wrong? I've checked every setting I can but no joy and no reference to this problem on any fora.Another clue may be that despite deleting emails I've received on my Wildfire they are still on my Live account as though nothing has happend. Sounds as though it's not syncing properly but what settings can I check?
1. I send an email to my G1 (not Gmail... just ordinary pop3 email) 2. I get the notification OK. 3. The email applications says "RedMist________________(1)" 4. So I click on RedMist, and then Inbox 5. It shows the email subject and then, within 1 or 2 seconds, the email disappears. without me clicking to view the email. 6. No matter what i do i cannot view this email again.
I've just move from the Iphone 4 to the S4 and am trying to set it up. I'm failing miserably with email.
I use Virgin.net email but have it downloaded to Outlook and it is deleted from the server when I do this. I want to access the same emails on my phone - well, those emails that have not yet been downloaded from the server. So for example, if I'm not at home and laptop is switched off (not accessing Outlook) then I can get the emails to my phone until I get home and download them to laptop. When I download them to my phone I want to leave a copy on the server for Outlook to get.
So............... I've manually set up email using pop3 settings on S4.
An email will download to my inbox on the phone...... but then when I next go in to check emails on phone those that have been downloaded just disappear?
Delete email from server is set as never in the settings. And outlook on my laptop is turned off so emails are not being downloaded there.
Why are my emails auto deleting and where re they going. How do I stop this?
I have started to have e-mails disappear on my HTC EVO. I've exhaustively looked at the settings on the EVO and in Outlook. Those appear to be okay; although I'm not certain. I also suspect perhaps a setting in Mailwasher Pro could be involved. The e-mails on the EVO seem to go away after I have successfully downloaded and viewed in Outlook and on the handheld. They disappear on the EVO after I then mark, and execute, all e-mails for deletion in Mailwasher.By the way, this started happening after I installed K-9 e-mail client on the EVO.However, I have gone back to using the standard EVO e-mail program. Having same problem with both programs.Wondering if maybe I should uninstall K-9. One test I did was to send an e-mail from one of my pop accounts to my gmail account. I allowed it to pass through Mailwasher downloaded and viewed it in Gmail on PC. Then, marked it for deletion in Mailwasher ran it through and it disappeared in Gmail on PC. Any ideas?
I have the Sprint EVO and also have att as an internet provider. My phone goes out and gets my email from both att and gmail. (Phone is set to leave email on server) The messages one the phone are there to read, reply, delete...normal stuff. But when I turn on my desktop using Outlook (which is set to delete the emails AFTER retrieving them), all the emails are gone from my phone. It didn't use to do that. Is there a way to fix this?
Does anyone know why my emails, with the HTC mail client, keep disappearing? They only stay for about a day or 2 then disappearing. It is set to ask before deleting and no limit size. I cannot find any other option that would change this. Does anyone know why my emails delete on me?
Have a moto droid on verizon and question about email. I'd like to be able to delete from inbox and have it deleted, not go to trash. Or at the very minimum, be able to empty the trash folder in one step without having to individually select each email to be deleted. Is either of these possible and I'm just missing something?
My emails constantly disappear. Gmail works fine, but I need my work emails too. My work does not use exchange server it is imap. I use the default android email and k9 email and they both disappear. I also notice that I get only 1 email then when I check my laptop I may have 10 in the inbox. What's up with androids email? I love my epic but coming from a blackberry I can honestly say android email is crap. Does anyone know what to do or have this problem?
I'm having an issue with deleting emails from the generic email client on Android 1.5. I use the gmail app for dedicated gmail stuff, works like a dream. However, my uni email address (IMAP) using the normal 'email' app is a different story. It will receive emails no problem, but if I delete them they disappear for 2 seconds, then reappear in the inbox again (in the same place) with a line through them, they don't even move into the trash folder. However, what does happen is that they disappear off my webmail server. Is there a way of actually removing something from the inbox once it's been received, or is it there forever? It's a LG Gw620 (eve/intouch max) running android 1.5.
Anyone who uses k9 Mail or have knowledge, I have a question. Is there a way to combine your email boxes to a global type inbox? Coming from a BB it was cool to be able to check 1 box to read all my 4 email account emails. Is this a feature available and I am missing it or is there an app for this?
I finally got my email up and running. Now two different times my mailbox simply emptied. The account was still there and fine, bu tthe emails just went back to 0/0. They are not in Trash, they are gone. I am not sure what I am doing to make the mailbox empty. I tried switching to K-9 but for some reason when I was using K-9 any attachments came in as dat files and I was unoable to view pdf's or Word docs etc when using K-9. Anyone deal with this yet?
My Email is deleting itself off my Inc. Both pop3 and Exchange I have it set to leave mail on server from my computer but after a few days it disappears from my phone. It is still on my computer and on the mail server but not the phone.
Googled this issue and can't seem to find the resolution. I am using the Gmail app which came pre-installed on the phone. I have entered my account details, I can send emails but I don't get a notification when I receive an email to my Gmail Inbox. I have checked the settings and I have setup a ringtone and selected the option to flag up an icon in the notification bar. However the only way I know I have an email is if I open the app. I have a task manager and Gmail is on the ignore list.
Interesting problem that I seem to have had out of the box (and which has started when I traded my old treo in for this android device): emails regularly disappear both from my Note, the exchange server and thus everywhere else as well, without any intervention on my part. My Note notifies me of new email, I glance at the overview, and sometimes no more than a few minutes later, that new email is completely gone.
Another interesting feature that popped up during testing is that emails sent from the device to this very account do appear in the sent items list both on the device and on the exchange server, but *only* at the inbox on the android device. And as with some of the regular incoming emails, these too disappear. As external emails (i.e. sent from for example gmail) thus far seem to stick, I am suspecting an issue with either activesync itself or exchange and activesync, but I can't be sure.
Noticed a few other threads both here and elsewhere about disappearing emails, but most (if not all) of these seem to be about POP3 where part of the default routine is of course deleting from the server. apps at issue:
- Android 2.3.6 and 4.0 (problem stayed after the upgrade) - Default mail client on both versions (this particular exchange account has thus far proven a bit troublesome to configure with for example k-9 and touchdown) - Exchange Server 2007 server / activesync
He's set up his gmail and work mail on the phone just fine, but his hotmail is playing silly buggers. The gmail is through that app, the work and hotmail through the desire mail app.
Anyway - he cannot get any hotmail emails into the inbox. When you first set up the account, he gets two 'welcome' mails - the kind you get when you set up the mail account online, welcoming you to your inbox. No other emails ever come through. However - he can send from it. And it appears in his outbox online.
I looked in the syncing sections and under the exchange active sync - which works for his work - there is no hotmail. Except somehow it must sync somehow as it's sending his hotmail fine...
My Roadrunner account is setup on my EVO and receives email, sends email, no problems there. Issue is that emails that I've already downloaded to my pc Outlook are still showing up in my inbox on my EVO. I've looked through all of the settings and cannot find one similar to what I had for my Windows Mobile mail, which deleted mail that it didn't see was on the mail server anymore. Is this a possible bug or maybe an intentional design, or am I missing a setting?
So this thing just started within the past week. My phone's stock gmail app will show new emails so I look at them and then they are all read, showing 0 new.But when I login to the web browser version, 5 minutes or even later(up to hours later), the web browser gmail is not updating to show that I already read the emails.I'm on JH2. So maybe it is a bug with the firmware?Or maybe a setting got changed but I'm not seeing how to handle the issue.
I don't know if this has been addressed before, but I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge as to how one would keep emails in the inbox? The catch is that they would have to stay there, not have to be reloaded (as if you were accessing the mailbox from the website on your computer) and wouldn't get pushed down the line and out of sight from your designated number of emails displayed at once in the list?
Heretofore, I have been deleting email one at a time. I read and respond to my email on my computer, so its all gone there. The same account on my HTC Inspire accumulates the email. After about three or more days the inbox is filling up. How can I delete the contents of the inbox?
I have been using the email app that came on the droid x for 2 weeks with no problem until now. i only have my yahoo email acct on it. this am, my inbox is empty. nothing has changed on my actual yahoo acct, so the emails have not been deleted. how can i get the inbox to repopulate/sync with the emails that are in my yahoo inbox? the other folders of my email are fine.
I use Samsung Galaxy S phone and my email setup is working fine except every time I refresh, all my previous e-mails disappear from my phone inbox, what do I have to do to keep my old emails until I am ready to answer or to delete? Can anybody help me?
I've been working on this and searching for a few days now and this is how far I got.
I can send and receive email through Exchange and I can see emails in my Inbox, the problem is I never keep any emails in my inbox, they always go into separate folders and those ones I can't see. I can see and switch to the different folders but there appears to be nothing in them.
I'm using Samsung Email simply because it came on the phone and seems to be able to do gmail, hotmail and exchange all in one.
Android 2.1, unrooted. Anyone come across this issue or have any ideas?
I hoard emails, because I first got gmail when I had a mac which uses the mail client, so I just never deleted them.Anyway, this means that when I first synced my phone, I ended up with nearly 14,000 emails. They are all unread. Any ideas on how to fix this? I know you can adjust the gmail settings to only forward new emails to pop but I can't take off and re-sync my account.I'm on a motorola droid, in case that's necessary info.
I just got an EVO, and I'm loving everything except this one thing. I would like my gmail app to default to "all mail," instead of simply "inbox." Why? I have some messages skip my gmail inbox (like facebook notifications or weekly coupons), so I have set labels to fix that! Keeps a clean inbox. BUT I want to still be notified of Facebook emails on my phone without having to specifically look for them. Say someone tags me in an unflattering picture, and I'm away from my laptop? I'd like to know right away! I have different needs for my phone and my laptop Does anyone else have these problems? Or...solutions?
Ever since I upgraded my N1 to froyo, gmail always opens to first msg instead of inbox view. Even if I exit in inbox view.Is there a way to change this? i.e. I want gmail to go to inbox by default instead of first message.
When I start the gmail app I would like it to ALWAYS go to the Inbox.Instead it starts with some old message displayed and I have to tap menu Back to Inbox so I can see new messages. And it's not like it's opening the last message that I was reading either it's some old message that's not even in the Inbox. Is there any way to force it to ALWAYS go to the Inbox when I start the app?
Does anyone know how to set it so that my Android phone only notifies me when I get a message in my "Priority Inbox" (the new feature Google just launched in case you don't know what it is)? With my email I receive a bunch of newsletters, so instead of being notified every time one of them arrives I'd like to be notified only when messages in my Priority Inbox arrive.Being able to be alerted to messages with certain labels only would also work.
For some reason when I send a gmail from my HTC Desire, that sent email will show up in my pc mail client inbox when I retrieve mail from gmail later in the day. (It never shows up in my gmail inbox on the handset). Why is that? and how do I stop it from doing that?
I feel silly asking this but can't figure it out. I use my gmail account specifically to get messages from a google groups boating forum. I have a work account w outlook and I use k-9 on my phone for that. I know that google doesn't have folders, but labels. I created a label 'xyz' for all email coming from that google group. My question is, how do I not have all these items show in my inbox?
In outlook, I can set up a rule that all email coming from email@example.com goes into the xyz folder, and doesn't clutter my inbox. How do I do this in gmail. I have all my email messages showing that they belong to xyz label, so my rule is working, but I want them not showing in my inbox.
You think that google would put forth a much better effort for the email app on Android but ironically, its just a giant epic fail Inbox view only? WTF was Google thinking? It really does suck that i have to use the web app in order to have the full functionality of gmail. I understand Google is moving forward with web apps and the cloud and all that but damn, they leave us hanging like that?
i would just like to ask on how can i get the messages on my email inbox folder and display it? similarly, how can I access gmail's inbox or other mail client's inbox folder? is this possible on android?
When I start the gmail app I would like it to ALWAYS go to the Inbox. Instead it starts with some old message displayed and I have to tap menu - Back to Inbox so I can see new messages. And it's not like it's opening the last message that I was reading either - it's some older message pretty far down in the Inbox. Is there any way to force it to ALWAYS go to the Inbox when I start the app?
Whenever I go into Gmail (I do not have push notification on, just check it every once in a while) it will say at the top "Inbox (2)", but then says "No Conversations" in the middle of the screen where it is supposed to list all the emails in my Inbox. I know that there are two in there because they are there whenever I check Gmail on my computer.I looked for an option in the Gmail settings in case it only shows unread mail, but can't find anything. If I navigate to a different label, it will show all the emails in them, just not the Inbox. It started out OK, but I just noticed it a day or so ago doing this.My father was messing around with my phone the other day, and I'm wondering if he did something?
New Droid X user here.New to Android as well.I see I have a universal inbox in the included Messenging app. This seems to show all of my IMAP e-mail accounts as well as Facebook, etc. However, Gmail seems to require its own app.Not sure I see the point of having a universal inbox if I can't include my Gmail account?Am I missing something?
