Android :: Multiple Time Setting Stopwatch App
Dec 28, 2009
I was wondering if anyone has come across a stop watch app that would let you set multiple time / countdowns. For example 60 seconds then 15 seconds then back to 60 seconds etc. This would be very useful for working out.

It seems so simple: I need a stopwatch widget, size 2x2. Just need it to be able to start and stop, laptimes would be a nice to have but no requirement. I don't need it to be very high resolution, seconds would be good enough (for my application, even minutes would suffice!). Any tips?

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have a profile for "in dock" to turn on GPS and bluetooth. Last night it didn't shut off and this am - DEAD battery. I've noticed sometimes in the dock it doesn't turn those features on either - but sometimes it does work?

I have to set multiple alarms (upto 5) that will trigger everyday, in my application. I tried to create an array of AlarmManager instances but it didn't worked. Here is the code fragment I used for this.
[HIGH]AlarmManager[] alarmManager = new AlarmManager[totalAlarmsInDay];
for(int i = 0; i < totalAlarmsInDay; i++) {
alarmManager[i] = (AlarmManager) getSystemService(Context.ALARM_SERVICE);
PendingIntent pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getService(this, i, intent, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT);
alarmManager[i].setInexactRepeating(AlarmManager.RTC, calendar.getTimeInMillis() + i * 15*60*1000, AlarmManager.INTERVAL_DAY, pendingIntent);
}[/HIGH]

I'd like to set the ringer mode to silent for specific events in the future. It should only happen if a checkbox in the preferences is checked. I know that I have to update the manifest for the permissions and also that I can set the ringer mode with something like this:
if (getPreferences(MODE_PRIVATE).getBoolean(PREFS_KEY_SILENTOPTION, false)) {
AudioManager audioManager = (AudioManager) getSystemService(AUDIO_SERVICE);
audioManager.setRingerMode(AudioManager.RINGER_MODE_SILENT);
}
But how can I set (and reset) it for a space of time in the future?

I'm trying to run two AsyncTasks at the same time. (Platform is Android 1.5, HTC Hero.) However, only the first gets executed.
Here's a simple snippet to describe my problem:
CODE:................
The output I expect is:
onCreate() is done.
bar bar bar
foo foo foo
bar bar bar
foo foo foo
And so on. However, what I get is:
onCreate() is done.
bar bar bar
bar bar bar
bar bar bar
The second AsyncTask never gets executed. If I change the order of the execute() statements, only the foo task will produce output.
Am I missing something obvious here and/or doing something stupid? Is it not possible to run two AsyncTasks at the same time?
I realized the phone in question runs Android 1.5, I updated the problem descr. accordingly. I don't have this problem with an HTC Hero running Android 2.1.

I had a basic question. Can my class extend 2 or more classes at a time. What is the syntax. I want to extend Activity as well as Application. Wont this create problems in the manifest file? Activity because, I need to do a couple of things during the onCreate() [binding a service]and Application, because I am creating objects of another class [service class]which needs to be accessible throughout my application.

I had my Hero set the way I wanted it for the past 5 months, long story short, I ended up resetting the phone and am now try to add my yahoo mail, gmail, and my Exchange mail. When I setup my Exchange mail, I add an icon to my home screen, works fine. Then I bring another mail icon and add it to the homescreen and setup my yahoo mail, all is good, and so forth for my gmail. The way I had it set up before, I could click each Icon and get my mail accordingly in each of the 3 (mail) icons. In fact, before, one of the icons was even labeled "yahoo". NOW when I try to set it up, it wants to give me the same email in all folders. I do not have anything set as my default.

I am unable to use the following to code to play multiple sounds/beeps simultaneously. In my onclicklistener I have added
... public void onClick(View v) { mSoundManager.playSound(1);
mSoundManager.playSound(2); } ...
But this plays only one sound at a time, sound with index 1 followed by sound with index 2. How can I play atleast 2 sounds simultaneously using this code whenever there is an onClick() event?
public class SoundManager {
private SoundPool mSoundPool;
private HashMap<Integer, Integer> mSoundPoolMap;
private AudioManager mAudioManager;
private Context mContext;
public SoundManager() {
} public void initSounds(Context theContext) {
mContext = theContext; mSoundPool = new SoundPool(4, AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC, 0);
mSoundPoolMap = new HashMap<Integer, Integer>();
mAudioManager = (AudioManager)mContext.getSystemService(Context.AUDIO_SERVICE);
} public void addSound(int Index,int SoundID)
{ mSoundPoolMap.put(1, mSoundPool.load(mContext, SoundID, 1));
} public void playSound(int index) {
int streamVolume = mAudioManager.getStreamVolume(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC);
mSoundPool.play(mSoundPoolMap.get(index), streamVolume, streamVolume, 1, 0, 1f);
} public void playLoopedSound(int index) {
int streamVolume = mAudioManager.getStreamVolume(AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC);
mSoundPool.play(mSoundPoolMap.get(index), streamVolume, streamVolume, 1, -1, 1f);
} }

Today my EVO recently decided to start displaying Pacific Time and thinking it's in Spokane, Washington (I live in Oklahoma). My phone number is from Spokane, WA but I moved from there a month ago and haven't had this problem until today.
I've tried changing the current city in the clock app, updating my PRL, changing the current city in the weather app, unclicking/reclicking "use wireless networks" to determine location, and nothing works.
The GPS shows I'm in Oklahoma but the time/time zone is still showing Washington. I'm lost.

I want to write a code that sets an interval of time for a certain method and run it 4 times for specific time, inside that interval.
For example: I have to generate a sound from the smartphone's speaker. The sound's length is 10 ms, and I want to generate that sound every 50 ms in an interval of 200 ms.

I'm currently learning android and java, and I am having some issues with importing a java file.
I am working with the time and date example in the android api demos, and I want to put all the code relating to creating the time and date dialogs setting the values etc into a separate java file, and in my main java file run when the application starts, just declare the buttons and onclick events.
What is the best way to do this? Do I need to put all the code inside a class(that extends activity) or method? How do I use this inside my main class. Code...

When I'm running a timer or stopwatch there's no easy way to tell how much time you have left without returning to the app. Thought a cool feature would be to have a small notification on the status bar, always visible like the clock, that you could quickly glance at to check how its going.

Basic but frustrating issue with my Droid X - the time stamp for the pictures that I take are way off - the date is actually right, but the time is something like 7 hours too fast.My phone's date and time is set correctly, of course (it does so automatically) - for some reason though, the camera's date stamp is wrong and I can't figure out how to adjust it. Any idea how I can fix the date and time for the camera?

Under Settings -> Date and Time, whenever I set a Date to a future or past number, it gets overridden by the Network/WiFi. I've made sure that I've unchecked the Automatic option. Anyone have any ideas why this is?
When I turn off my Network(3G) and WiFi, I'm able to set the Date to whatever I want without it getting reset like 2 seconds later.

I like to listen to live fire dept dispatch, and then be able to go to Google Maps, while the audio is still going, to look up addresses. Is there a way to do this? As soon as I leave the dispatch/web screen, the audio stops. How do I do this? I know there's got to be a way to have multiple apps going at the same time right.

I've been a long time Blackberry user. Finally decided to jump ship to a Droid Incredible. Ordered on 6/4, received on 7/1. Then the Droid X was announced. Had vzw send me a Droid X to swap out for the Incredible. I got the Droid X last Friday and still have the Inc too.
There's plenty of things about the Inc that weren't perfect. Now that I've used the Droid X I totally have to appreciate how much development HTC puts into their Sense interface and Apps. The ones like the Desk Clock/Alarm/Timer/Stopwatch are far better than what is found on the X.
I know that their beautiful apps are also the main reason that they won't have froyo out for a while for their devices.
Does anyone know of any app that is close to the Clock / Timer / Stopwatch app that HTC made for the Incredible. I don't see to be able to find any apps that are even close to as well designed. I really like how the dials can be spun to set the timer and then they spin to count down when started.
I have great hope for the Droid X and the android platform. I have no trouble paying for well designed and functional apps.

My wife has a Hero and I like the fact that touching the HTC Sense clock brings up the alarm, timer and stopwatch selections. Is there a similar app in the Market which I could use with my Beautiful Widgets clock? The UI in the Hero is awesome, so willing to pay for a similar app in the market.

Does anyone know if there is a app, or phone mod that allows you to access the SD Card on the phone, at the same time as it's being used as a drive.I'm getting tired of transferring things like icons, and wallpaper to my phone, then having to unmount the drive before I can use them. Especially if I'm just trying out new icons.Is it possible to have my desire set to disk drive, and access it at the same time?
