Android :: How To Let Parent Handle Onclick Event For ListView?
Jul 27, 2010
This should be a simple question because I couldn't get the answer from Google . I have ListView in a LinearLayout . I need to handle the click event to allow user click on the LinearLayout to trigger some function. I try to add onClickListener to the LinearLayout , and it works only when I click outside of the ListView . How do I let the click event on ListView propagate automatically to be handled by the Listener of the LinearLayout?
In my application i have a button initially on the screen and in onclick of the button ,popup window should open. In the popup window i have an imagebutton , now on click of this button i want to start an activity. The popup window opens but i dont understand how to handle the onclick of the imagebtn inside popup window.
In main.xml i have a button and in popup_example.xml i have an imagebutton.
I have a ListView whose rows are formatted by me. Each row has a mix of ImageView and TextView. I have also implemented my own adapter and am able to draw each row through it.
Now, I would want something like this-
User clicks on an ImageView (not anywhere else on the row, but only this ImageView should respond to clicks) I get to know the position of the row whose ImageView was clicked.
I have tried many things for this and have wanted my code to be as efficient as possible (in terms of overkill). Currently i can capture the click event on that particular ImageView only, but I can't know which row was clicked.
I have provided an attribute in the Row XML like this-
And in my code, I have a method like this:
I can get the parent row (perhaps) but am not sure how to go further from here.
The layout xml is as below. I have a RelativeLayout, which contains a TextView. The OnClick listener is set on RelativeLayout. The RelativeLayout has a selector background. What I want is, when user clicks on the RelativeLayout, the background of the RelativeLayout should change, and the color of the text of the TextView should change too. Even though I set color selector for the TextView, only the selector on RelativeLayout works. The color selector on TextView doesn't work. How can I implement change of both RelativeLayout background and text color of TextView when user clicks the layout?
I have a listview managed by an adapter that is extending BaseAdapter.
In the getview function im using the convertView to set up a OnClickListener. This OnClickListener work well when I am touching the screen but if I use the trackball of the HTC Desire, I see the row flashing on the screen, but the OnClickListener is not called...
I've read the android dev guide : http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/ui-events.html and its say that I should receive a onClick event from the trackball...
Im putting here my getview code in case someone see anything strange.
I could not figure out how to implement two basic functionalities with the expandable lists: 1. The onClick for the child 2. Using linear layout for the children, so that I can have multiple clickable items in same row under the parent item
Can somebody help me with some sample code for the above?
I am creating lists in my android app and would like to capture the text of the list item that is clicked but I want to do it in a seperate function so I only have to write the code once. And I want to be able to compare the string to another sting.
I know it's considered taboo to place a ListView inside a scrolling container, so is there any "proper" way to accomplish scrolling of a container that has a ListView child in it? An example layout would look something like:
Header --- "Sub" header --- ListView with list items --- Footer
Header and Footer need to remain static on the screen, and the middle content (Subheader and ListView) should scroll between them. I can't have just the ListView scrollable, because the subheader takes up too much space. As it is currently, the Header comes from an <include />, the Subheader contains several views including an Image and some text, and the ListView (actually part of a ViewFlipper) would contain an indeterminate number of items. The Footer has a couple buttons/tabs that are used to control the ViewFlipper (only one of the views in the flipper is a ListView).
The only way I can think of to accomplish this efficiently would be to place the Subheader inside the ListView as the first item -- is there any better way?
I'm now stuck in html loading from my assets folder. I've several html pages under assets folder and have to load those at listview item onclick. Each listview item own their html pages.Does anybody know how i can get onclick event and how to show specific html pages?
Basically, I have a custom ListView in which each item looks like:
The ListView in each item is GONE by default and is set to VISIBLE when the button is clicked. Everything seems to work fine with the exception that when the ListView is long enough to scroll, it is just kind of truncated. http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/3269/listviewproblem.png
Is this a problem with the maximum height of an individual list item? Is there a way to force the list item to expand and force the child listview to expand to show all children?
Currently I'm trying to find an efficient way to handle the following scenario. Please comment on my current implementations and all feedback is greatly appreciated! I have about 7 adapters with data. This data comes from database and some come from xml queries over the internet which are kept static in memory. In my current implementation I re-use one ListView constantly to display this data as requested by the user. Here are the questions: 1. Is this a proper approach? or should I have a ListView for every Adapter?
I am working android app, where i need a Listview which contain different types of view sets. They have to update dynamically. i.e , initially i have some list of views, with one header. Next when i click button i have to add new view set with different header. So can any one tell me . how to achieve this complex listview.
I use ListView.(Adapter is a Custom Adapter) *extends BaseAdapter. I wanto to get selected item, when I click the item in the list. now, I use OnItemClickListener, OnItemSelectedListener. but, This program doesn't do the operation for which I hope. not click. I want to get a selected Item in the list, when like mouse_down. (Moment when color of item in list changed?)
