Sometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.
I have noticed in the text message app if I create a new message and click the icon button next to enter recipient to choose a contact from my contacts there are contacts from just about everyone who has emailed me on my gmail account! This is not ideal at all.. I Would like just the contacts in my phone to be available. How do I remove all of those gmail contacts.
How to be able to select text from a text message? Because I cannot figure it out. I want to be able to select certain things and copy and paste into navigation or another text/email. and long press which I thought would allow me to doesnt.
Is there an Android app anywhere that will count how many SMS text messages I have used to date in a month? I have found a data counter which tells me the amount of data going through the phone via WiFi and the mobile network, but as these are both unlimited on my plan, it's no use. However I only get 300 minutes and 300 SMS messages each month included in my plan and would like to know where I am with those at any time.
I had a weird problem this afternoon with the stock texting app.
All of my text threads got erased when I went to reply to someone. The weirder part is that a few hours later, all of my texts had the mail symbol with a green "i" next to it, signifying that it was pending. People receive the messages, but mine all have a pending status.
Does anyone know how to disable the pop up text message that comes on the screen when u receive a message thru handcent? i would like it to jus show up in my notification bar so it wont interrupt me doing something else and show in the text big on my screen.
When I receive a text message, it displays a gray pop up box with the text and buttons to "close" or "reply". I want to turn this off. It's often slow and sometimes pops up while I'm already typing my reply. I've gone into the messaging settings and turned off everything that I figured could be related to that. I even turned off Auto-retrieve, but I still get those gray popups. I would really like to have them turned off.
I cannot delete a text message on my LG GW620 phone, the message won't show up in the inbox so i can't delete it. It only comes up in the notifications bar. I've cleared the message data in the application manager but it keeps comming back.
Since performing the upgrade to 2.1, my sent text messages are now giving me an alert tone. When I go into message settings, I can scroll down and see the option to uncheck "Pay Notification Sound" under Sent Messages, but it's grayed out.
when i go into my sms text compose new text message and i start to type the name of a contact it only sometimes gives me the name of the contact to click on but most of the contacts in my phone book wont show up idk if this is a setting but it is really frusterating and i cant seem to figure it out i have to go threw my contact list to choose someone and then send sms text.
how to customize the text message notifications... but can not figure out how to customize the email notifications..is there a way? I have a work and personal email account on my EVO and they both notify me with the same sound! I like ignoring my work ones on the weekends... is there an app I could download to customize my contacts ring tones and text messages as well?
Did a bunch of searching but can't seem to find a solution. A friend texts and asks me if I have so-and-so's number. On the blackberry, I would go to my contacts, shift-roll to select the phone number, and paste it into a new text message. I'm looking for the most efficient way to do this on my droid x. I have found the copy command in different places (sometimes via the menu key and other times via a hold click) but I don't see where I can select specific text. I know there is a feature to send an id card or something like that, but those don't seem to work with a lot of phones.
I can't figure out how to add someone from my contacts to a text message without putting in the number. When I type in a name it only brings one name up and will not show the rest...example I type in Bethany and it will only show Bernita. What gives?
I've been developing this app for a while now. Texdro makes it possible to receive an MSN-like notification on your computer as you receive a text message on your phone. If you click the notification you can send back a response. More features like conversations and such will come. Info and download link here: Texdro
I must be missing something really obvious, but can someone tell me how I can send a text message to more than one contact in Handcent please? If I manage to do this, will all the recipients of that message be able to jointly read what everyone says like an email or facebook message? Maybe I'm asking too much?
Does anyone know of a way, or a plugin or a program add on, to send the text of a text message to the creation of a new calendar entry, with the subject or notes pre-filled with the text data. I find I'm doing it a lot. OK, I can effectivley copy/create new entry/paste.
I cannot send videos!? When i attach a video in a text to someone else it always says, "Message size limit reached." "Sorry you cannot add this video to your message."Anyone know what i am doing wrong or whats up.
I want to be able to control incoming text messages. My application is still on a "proof of concept" version and I'm trying to learn Android programming as I go. First my application need to catch incomming text messages. And if the message is from a known number then deal with it. If not, then send the message as nothing has happened to the default text message application. I have no doubt it can be done, but I still have some concern and I see some pitfalls at how things are done on Android. So getting the incomming text message could be fairly easy - except when there are other messaging applications installed and maybe the user wants to have normal text messages to pop up on one of them - and it will, after my application has had a look at it first. How to be sure my application get first pick of incomming text messages? And after that I need to send most text messages through to any other text message application the user has chosen so the user can actually read the message my application didn't need.
I just got my droid. Switching over from a storm and with the storm i could set contact alerts for text messages and separate ringtones for when they call with the droid i have found there is only one text message alert and you cannot set individual alerts for text messages.
Alright so I REALLY need to create a group contact folder. You see I have to manage about 10 guys and its convenient that they all have cellphones whats NOT convenient is I can't find a way to put them into a group and text them with one group message! I need to make sure these guys show up to where they are needed and texting all 10 of them separately is a pain in the rear end. So far the other threads don't seam of any use.
For starters, the phone is amazing. I just have a few questions: Is it possible to set a ringtone to go off when you receive a text message? MY old VZW phone allowed a ringtone notification. I have yet to find a way to do this; anyone know how?
Every time I get a text message, my phone alerts me twice. I do have handcent, and I did disable the notifications on the stock text messaging app and it still did this. Then, I uninstalled handcent from my phone thinking maybe I can reinstall it and it would stop notifying me twice; which didn't work. So now I just have the stock messaging app and it's still notifying me twice every time I get a single text message. Any thoughts? It's driving me insane.
I am new to the Android platform and after browsing various apps, I have been unable to find an app that can do what I would like. Simply put, I was wondering if an app existed that when a text message containing an address is sent to me, if I could simply click on it, and it would send the directions to Google maps/navigation, or any default GPS program.
Since I am unable to Copy the text with the default messaging program (EVO), I cant just copy and paste it into Google maps.
I am sure there must be a simple answer but I can't seem to find it! I got my Samsung Galaxy Portal yesterday and when I get a new text it makes a sound but I don't get a display on my screen. So if I miss the sound, or it is on silent, I have to actually go into the messages to see if there is a new one. Is there a way I can get new messages to display on my screen?
Using two 2.0 emulators and the native messaging application- if I send a text message which exceeds 160 characters in length, the receiving emulator gets the message, but the text is all scrambled. Does anyone else see this? Is this a bug with the emulator, or a real problem with the 2.0 devices as well?
When I got google voice, my droid could read out the welcome message in text and sound, but whenever i try to leave a test voice mail from another phone to mine, google voice doesn't record it, can anyone tell me why and how to fix it? also it does not save the voicemails as emails to my gmail account. i really want to know how to fully comprehend this android feature, can anyone put me on the right path??

I have a 900+ txt message 'thread' with someone that I would like to export to a .TXT file. Is this possible?
I'm working on an Android app that will send an automated response every time a text message is received. I looked around a bit on android's development site but haven't had anything that points me in the right direction. Does anyone have any ideas on where I should start with this or have any good links that might help? I am a total beginner with developing Android apps so please bear with me if I'm a little slow with this.
I just want to simply forward a text message to an email address (preferably using my default gmail account). How can I do this? I've tried with both the default messaging app and handcent. Both have a forward feature, but it only works to forward to another phone #. I found a few apps that claim to automatically forward incoming texts to an email but that isn't what I want either.
