I am using the GPS and something I do in my program causes the GPS icon in the notification area of my phone to disappear for a few seconds then come back, then disappear again. None of the other GPS programs I use have this "problem"... if it is actually a problem. I've read all kinds of articles about the GPS icon staying on after the program exits, but I can't find anything about it disappearing while the application is using it. What causes the GPS icon to disappear?
I have a daily recurring alarm set (M-F @ 6am). For some reason, the alarm icon in the notification bar just up and disappears on me occasionally, and I don't know why. The alarm went off this morning, but since I was asleep, I don't know if the icon was up there or not.
Here's the thing. I don't care if it disappears so long as I know that the alarm will go off. But, will it? I don't know for sure unless I see that icon up there in the notification bar (or on the lock screen) that tells me that the alarm is set.
I don't have any task killers or alarm clock applications installed. I once had a task killer installed, but didn't see the point in it so I uninstalled it. I had Kaloer clock installed, but uninstalled it for the same reason.
So I don't know what would be causing the conflict, or would be killing the notification, unless for some reason Angry Birds Rio just loves killing notification icons.
Android 2.2.2 on a Samsung Replenish.
Edit: I should add, when the icon disappeared, I went into the alarms and found that it was, in fact, still set and turned on. If I turn off the alarm, then turn it back on, the icon returns, but then disappears after a while. So, it looks like the alarm stays on, but I still that apprehensive feeling of not knowing for sure because the icon isn't there.
I've noticed this happen 2 or 3 different times since Friday. For whatever reason the 3G icon disappears from the title bar but I still show 3-4 bars signal strength. At this time all data access is lost, no response from email, web, talk, etc. I've tried waiting it out but it doesn't seem to respond. During this time I've also tried cycling airplane mode, but that doesn't help. So I power the phone off and back on and it comes up with 3g data access again. Anyone seen this or know how to "wake up" 3g data access again once its gone?
It wont go away.. No idea how to get rid of it.. It sometimes disappears, but only for a few minutes. Read about 6 other forum posts and none have helped..
Its nothing to do with any sort of syncing account, I have it fully turned off, and my accounts removed, but it still shows..
I have two Activities: one with VideoView attached to MediaPlayer and the second one. I start watching a video in the first Activity, then during playback I start second Activity. After going back to first Activity I can hear sound but see no picture.
could be losing my mind here but I've noticed that when I have added information to my contacts (note section particularly) when I go to check it there is no sign of it, and on one occaision I was checking my recent saved entry and the note section vanished infront of my eyes! My contacts sync with Google and when I add the info to the notes section in google on my laptop it stays on the phone ok.
I am writing an app that wants to be able to handle URLs. I also want to be able to launch it stand-alone with no arguments, so I've specified two intent filters: I have also specified android:launchMode="singleTask". Now, if I explicitly launch my application from the application list, its name and icon can be found in the "recent apps" list that pops up when I hold the home key. If I then use the email application to open a URL in my application, my application disappears from the "recent apps" list. Why does this happen, and what can I do about it? I notice that the Browser application doesn't behave like this, and it has similar intent filters and the same launchMode..
I've figured out how to get the camera to work. It's taking a 1/4 resolution picture and I'm putting it into the gallery. Next, I want to create a small icon of that picture to put on a button. I've seen several examples and the code below is what I've been trying:
showMessage("Next Step is cropping - Waiting ..."); logDebug("Sending URI " + mOutputFileUri); // now we want to grab a lower res version for the button. Intent cropIntent = new Intent("com.android.camera.action.CROP"); cropIntent.setClassName ("com.android.camera","com.android.camera.CropImage"); cropIntent.setData(mOutputFileUri); //cropIntent.setData(intent.getData()); cropIntent.putExtra("noFaceDetection", true); cropIntent.putExtra("outputX", ICON_SIZE); cropIntent.putExtra("outputY", ICON_SIZE); cropIntent.putExtra("aspectX", 1); cropIntent.putExtra("aspectY", 1); cropIntent.putExtra("scale", true); cropIntent.putExtra("return-data", true); startActivityForResult(cropIntent, CROP_FROM_CAMERA);
But, this blows up with a null pointer exception. I also get a warning in the log message stream saying the image file isn't finished writing. I've based my code on this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1973359/android-crop-an-image-afte... Also, when it tries to delete the temporary file, there is an error because I don't have permission. This smells like I'm just missing something important. Is there any other way to get an icon of the image?
Is there any way to determine when the user clicked the app icon to launch the app ? I mean say a user was using my app. Then he presses the home key as a result of which the app goes to the background. After sometime he clicks the app icon again. My question is do I get a call-back for this?
I deleted the large weather icon on the Home, that came with the phone installed and it shows the date where you are etc.... How do i get it back on? I tried to go on add widget to home and then ''weather'' but it wasn't the same one. Its some small one instead.
I lost the phone icon off of my screen. I have looked through the applications and I don't see anything to put the shortcut back on my screen. How do I get a phone icon back on my screen?
Anyways, I've had this phone for almost two weeks now and I love it. The only two things that have bothered me is: 1) the battery icon, it'll look like 80% when really it's 60% and 2) when I press the button sometimes I'll have to hit it a couple of times to make the back button work.
The other night, something updated on my HTC One (running Venom with GoLauncher EX) and the icons got all jacked-up. Some Google apps reappeared on the dock, a widget got pushed on top of another, etc. It looks like when the Google apps updated, they felt the need to reinstall themselves on the dock -- not sure, but that's not my main question.
When all of this happened, I lost the "grid" looking icon that will show All Apps and I'm not sure how to get it back. At this time, I can only see the apps I've put on my "home" pages, and in order to see All Apps, I must do an "add" and browse that way.
I'm a long time Nokia user and got my first android phone two weeks ago and there are still some learning to do in order to know how to use it properly. Today I accidentally removed one of the short keys from the home screen and I'm not able to get it back to it's place. To be more exact, it is the messaging short key which is located on the bottom bar of the screen. The other ones (Phone, Contacts & Applications) are still the, but when I'm trying to return the messaging icon back to the bottom bar, I always end up with the trash can over the area where I'm supposed to place the icon. What can I do, How do I get the icon back on the home screen?
I will acknowledge that this is very insignificant, but for some reason it is driving me crazy. When I first got this phoe, I deleted the original espn, cnn and facebook shortcuts that came preloaded on the right screen. I have since come to realize that I check espn A LOT and I wanted the shortcut back there. So I added a bookmark, but the original icon that came preloaded just looked a lot better, does anyone know if there is a way to get the original icon back without doing a factory reset?
After the update when i hit the phone icon, the "favorites" icon used to be at the bottom right after the green call tab. now there is an icon for call history.
i cannot for the life of me get it back. verizon says it was lost after the upgrade. i put the "people" icon on my now when i need to call a friend who is on my "favorite" list, i hit that icon, it brings me to all contacts and at the bottom i then have to depress favorites which brings up groups, then hit favorites. like 4 steps to make a phone call?
anybody figure out how to get the favorite icon back on the phone screen?
I am developing an Android application consisting of 4 tabs. On the first tab I have a button, which again calls an Activity called ActivityA.When my ActiviyA is started, the tab control is not shown anymore.
My exchange account disappears at least once a week and I have to set it up again. I also get unable to connect to server sometimes and I have to pull the battery to reset to make it work. What is going on?
I have a problem with Google Maps. Everytime I start searching for something in Google Maps, the search box will disapper while typing like I hit the back button. I don't recall this type of behavior happening in any other application. I'm using a Spring HTC hero with Fresh 2.4 (Andriod 2.1) and I'm running the latest version of Google Maps (4.6). After some quick google searching I have seen other andriod phones with similar issues, so I don't think it's related to Fresh. THis issue also happened with the previous version of Google Maps.
After I added some .png files into my Project Workspace drawable folder I refreshed my drawable folders in Eclipse and the newly added files showed up. But when I tried to access those resources using R.drawable.xyzimage, xyzimage although in the folder could not be resolved. So I did a Project Clean and guess what after this clean R.java is totally gone and all my classes accessing resources using R.java is showing all sorts of error and Eclipse won't let me run the code anymore. I have backup of my source code but I want to explore if R.java can be regenerated and how?
I had an edited png for the market icon in the vending apk but when I applied my edited png's to Ivans rom with the market fix it seems to have changed the icon back to the original market Icon. When I first loaded the rom it showed my edited png for the market icon but after my first reboot it seems to change the icon back to the original. I assume that the market is updating upon reboot so I pulled the vending apk off my phone and my edited png's are still there but its still showing the original market icon. Anybody else with an edited market icon notice this or any ideas of why its going back to original? I have tried this a couple times and it always updates after first reboot...
I just started using Pandora on my Droid and have a couple questions:
1.) Is there any way to view all the songs that have played on the station I created? 2.) If I accidentally hit the "thumbs down" icon on a song can I somehow go back and change that?
I listened to ~20 songs before I noticed the "bookmark" feature and didn't write a bunch of the good ones down... and I also hit the dislike button accidentally on a really good song but can't remember the name
When I click on the EditText "@+id/updateStatus" of the ScrollView, the keyboard appears on the screen of the device and the ScrollView is hidden. I'd prefer to hide the ListView "@+id/myListView" at the end. Is it possible? Why that view is hidden?
I got my 2 gmail accounts (as POP) and my isp email account (as POP also) in my K-9 email client.
When i receive emails they appear in inbox just normaly. But if I leave the inbox and come back in, they have disappeared. I just cant figure it out, what kind of setups I have to have to keep the read emails shown?
I have the same 3 account in my laptop and k-9 doesnt delete the emails from server, because I can download them when I use my laptop email client.
