Android :: Configuration Change - Width And Height
What happens to the width and height params declared in LayoutParams on configuration change? E.g. if I have an ImageView declared with,
new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(30, 40);
On Configuration Change, does the width become 40 and height 30?

Android :: Getting Width And Height Of Device Programatically For QVGA Devices?

I tried following methods but its not working.
All these methods return wrong width and height for the 240x320 devices namely Samsung Europa and Alcatel which i have. Width = 320 Height = 240.. This is wierd as some of the critical functionality is getting hampered .. I think this is really a basic thing which shd be correctly provided. Please help me with this issue .
Android :: Control Frame Height And Width Of Captured Video : SetVideoSize() Does Not Work
On a Nexus One (for example), the camera application is able to capture H.264 video at 720x480 (the "High" quality setting). However, when using the MediaRecorder API, it always seems to capture at a fixed frame size of 320x240.
I would expect the setVideoSize() method to control the frame size (as in the prepare fragment below), but it appears to have no effect (using Froyo 2.2 Android SDK).code...
Discussions on the android developers list seem to indicate this is a long standing issue. Can anyone advise how the frame size can be controlled, or if it is possible at all with the current API?
Android :: Dialog Survival Over Configuration Change
Flipping between landscape and portrait is causing me a problem with dialogs that are active at the time of config change. The dialogs survive (which I think is good), but I have the problem that some of my dialogs contain dynamic content which would need to be refreshed in the dialog views. All that content disappears from the dialog views after the config change.
I thought it would be easier to do a dismissDialog() on restoration in onCreate(), letting the user press the button that shows the dialog. I successfully save and recover the dialog id, but when I attempt to dismissDialog(id) I get an IllegalArgumentException: no dialog with id 1 was ever shown via Activity$showDialog. Ok, so that doesn't work, and I still have that messed up dialog up on the screen that I want to get rid of. How can I do that? Are there any other reasonable alternatives?
Android : AlertDialog And Keyboard Open Configuration Change
My app creates and shows an AlertDialog which accepts input from the user (the user needs to type some text into an EditInput).
With the AlertDialog on screen, if the user opens up the keyboard on the device, then the app's OnCreate and OnResume methods are called and my AlertDialog promptly disappears from the screen ... not the effect I was hoping for!
I thought that perhaps I needed to override the Activity's onConfigurationChanged method, but despite having the following in my Manifest:
Android :: Change Key Width Run Time
I want to change the key width in keyboard at runtime. The constructor of class Keyboard only accepts the layout resource ID. I tried setHeight method, but it didn't work obviously when I checked the code of Keyboard. Any solution? Do I have to implement my own Keyboard
Android :: View Width Change Animation?
I'm trying to make a timeout gauge bar animation effect:The width of a lengthy colorful bitmap image is decreasing, but not x-scaling.so the image looks not changing and the visible area shrinks.I couldn't find the sole ImageView clipping or masking support in android.then changing the shrink_box's width will clip the portion of the still_image.But I failed to change the width of the view smoothly.I tried to change the LayoutParam.width in applyTransformation() but got an Exception, it seems not allowed. How can I make an Animation that changes the width of the view. OR is there a proper method to achieve the above effect?
Android : Change The Height Of A Row In A Listview
I want when a user clicks a row, that row grows to show more items with an scale animation, but I can't find how can I do that.
First: I don't know how can I change a height row at runtime. I've tried making the items visible, but this didn't work even if I inflate with another XML layout.
Second: If I achieve the first one, I think I could make the scale animation.
Android : Change The Height Of A Webview On Runtime
I have a webview and a table containing 4 buttons. I have set the height of the webview to 400px, so that the buttons are displayed at the bottom of the screen, in portrait mode. My problem is, when changed to landscape mode the buttons are not visible. So I need to change the height of the webview on runtime, when orientation is changed. Do anybody know how to achieve this? I am able to capture the orientation change, using 'onConfigurationChanged' function.
Android :: Unable To Programmatically Change Width Of Horizontal Progressbar
I would like change the width of a Horizontal Progressbar programmatically (initial size is set in XML using RelativeLayout...but I would like to dynamically change it based on certain values).
I have tried setMinimumWidth(50) in my code, but that did not make a difference. I have also tried setting 'android:layout_width="wrap_content", but that did not work either.
Here is my XML:
Android :: How To Change Custom Component Height Programmatically?
I've prepared custom component based on LinearLayout. Whole component is defined in XML. Currently to use it you have to write:

I've tried to modify and set LayoutParams, but it didn't work for me.
Android : Configure ListView To Automatically Change Its Height
I have three ListView widgets in the same LinearLayout. Something like this (I'm omitting XML elements that are not relevant in this example):
This forces the list to have a height of 360 dip. Of course, that will be its height even if there are few list items. So, my question is how can make the lists have an automatic height? What I want is that the ListView height takes the exact size of the sum of all its list items.
Android :: Change Nested Layout's Child View Group's Width In Java Code?
I have a layout xml file with a linear layout. One of the children is again a ViewGroup Relative layout. In my java code i want to change the width of this child Viewgroup for my requirements. I tried this
ViewGroup childViewGroup = (LinearLayout)findViewById(childViewGroup);
LayoutParams l = childViewGroup.getLayoutParams();
l.width = 360;
I couldn't do this because findViewById(childViewGroup) doesn't fetch ViewGroups it does only for Views. Note: I cant define a whole new layout.xml for this minor requirement since it is huge layout file and might cause performance overhead. I wanted to just change the width of the child view group in my java activity code.
