I have been using Evo as my primary phone for 2 weeks and I do not see any battery problems. Am I the exception?
I am a heavy user with about 70 texts, 20-30 emails per day, 1-1.5hour phone usage, occasional web surfing (1-1.5hour), listening to music (30min morning + 30min evening), GPS on all the time (but no GPS using apps running), Facebook and Sense. I didn't turn on Bluetooth or Wifi or 4G. This is a typical day for me. With this kind of usage my battery easily lasts the whole day and well into the night.
Is there one click apps to enable/disable wifi, and bluetooth?View 5 Replies View Related
I am trying to save battery and speed up my phone. I know that I can in to setting to disable all these extra features, but I heard from someone that, "even though you disabled it, the phone will still continue to try to pick up these services, like 3G). Is there a app that will fully disable these features?
Also is there anyway up speeding up my phone. I have a Rooted T-Mobile MyTouch 3G w/ the CyanogenMod 4.2.13. I heard that there is a "10MB Hack", but I also heard that it will slow down your games.
I've just realized that such feature is only Froyo supported, I really need that while driving, do you know about apps to get such feature working?View 5 Replies View Related

I was cleaning all the crap off my phone I don't use anymore and I believe I accidently removed the bluetooth software that allows it to connect to stereo bluetooth headsets. I can control the player with the headset, I can make phone calls from it, but when I try to play music there is no sound.
I was trying to reset the phone using RUU, but it reboots the phone and then says it cannot reconnect after that and the software shuts down. I can still sync with outlook, so my driver is not the issue. I am out of ideas.
Is there anyway possible to reinstall just the bluetooth portion of the rom?
This is my first android phone and im having some problems with the bluetooth. Im trying to send my contacts over bluetooth from my old sony ericsson but it doesnt seem to be going smoothly, i would say its all down to me! Basically i have got the bluetooth on for both phones, the desire is set to be discoverable and i try to send the contacts via bluetooth on the SE. I get the whole passcode and accept the file which i have done, but then it says again about accepting the file. Ive tried it a few times and i have 3 bluetooth icons at the top of my screen now which i imagine are for transferring files which need accepting. Is there anywhere i can to accept them or close them down?View 1 Replies View Related
I released updates of my apps yesterday and they are being hidden from android 1.5 and 1.6 phones.
This is due to a Market bug which hides apps with bluetooth permissions from android 1.5 and 1.6.
Come on Google fix the market. We spend countless hours making are apps work on ALL android versions and now you do this...
This issue has been raised since June, but has only affected me since i made an update to the market yesterday.

Is anyone aware of a listing of apps that require Android 2.1 to run (e.g. apps like Google Goggles, etc.)? I've searched the threads here at Android Forums and elsewhere and haven't been able to find such a list or site.
Now that I upgraded to 2.1, I'd like to "see what I've been missing" and take advantage of the new OS.
I'm new to Android. I recently was an iPhone fan but thought that Android was a better alternative to iPhone. So anyway, I have a few questions about the Captivate. Does Android have support for apps that you can use to password protect certain apps on the phone? Like messages, and photos for more private stuff. Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. And my last question is if the captivate has support for 32gb cards. I'm sorry if someones already gone over these but I could find anything right away. Anyways, I look forward to Android and the Captivate.View 9 Replies View Related
I have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.
I'm sure its been covered somewhere but does anyone have an explanation as to why when I open advanced task killer it tells me a bunch of apps, that I didn't open, are running? Doesn't really slow my phone down too much, just annoying... Running Eris Root KaosFroyoView 2 Replies View Related

Hope you guys can help. Since the 2.1 update I have certain apps which appear to be opening in the background when I didn't open them. I have Advanced Task Killer, and when I go in for example it shows Messages running, when I kill it, it will reappear in 30 secs or so, the same with MP3 store. Can these apps be stopped so they don't take up memory or what's the deal here. Thanks for any help.View 6 Replies View Related
When i get a list of recommended apps for my wildfire 90% of them don't open.
i do know that is cos of the resolution and etc.
is there anyway it can show phone specific apps?
My phone is telling me my internal storage is nearly full, whereas I have a 4gb microsd card which is not being used.
How do I move my applications to the SD card (or how do I have my apps automatically install there in the future)
Has anyone noticed that when you install an application manually vs a downloaded one from the market it doesn't update when a newer version comes out?View 3 Replies View Related

Do not get me wrong - I love the Android, especially the vast amount of apps to choose from. But has anyone noticed how much more vibrant and polished the Palm Pre apps are as opposed to Android apps? Take the weather apps for example (Weather Bug or Weather Channel). They are so much brighter and complex on the Pre. I know the Pre apps are far less in number, but the ones that are there seem much more polished. Am I crazy, or does anyone else notice this?View 36 Replies View Related
I know the "cool kid in school" thing to do is make fun of the iPhone market for having 1,000's of 'Fart apps'
But let's be honest at the end of the day it's really not true, and now coming from being a previous iPhone owner and now a Droid owner i can honestly say, the iPhone app market wins by a TON.
This is just a general QUALITY of apps comparison as well.
NO i'm not switching back... but man do i miss the iPhone apps...
Especially facebook.. and others..
You can REALLY tell the difference between the quality of iPhone apps vs Android,
So why am i starting this thread?.. Well i'm hoping maybe a developer could chime in and enlighten us on why this is...
Things i'm curious about-
Is programming in android worse then in the iPhone OS? is that why apps are WAY less in quality?
And you can't give the excuse that it's because things are new, when the iPhone market came out the apps were quality at day 1, many of them were.
So what's the difference? i guess software...
Well i'm sticking with android even though this exists.. in hopes that maybe future Android OS updates and SDK's will improve this very obvious difference.. right now i'm not impressed at all... the apps are all Slow, and they look horrible.
And for twitter? holy crap... iPhone owners back me up here, but the iPhone twitter apps are lightyears ahead of android twitter apps.
Just take a look at Tweetdeck for iPhone, and compare to to what i guess is the best android twitter app, twidroid?
Compare those and you'll see what i'm talking about.
Is it possible to backup all your apps using something like astro, copy them to your computer, compress them into a zip file, move that back to your phone and flash that after flashing a ROM to restore your apps, is this even possible or is it more complicated than that?View 3 Replies View Related
I am under the impression that android apps can require other apps to be installed in other to operate. The main example I know is the zxing barCode scanner app, which gets used by a number of other apps. The zxing barcode app is free, but I was wondering what would happen if it wasn't?In particular, what would the user experience be like? How would they be notified, if at all, about the paid app requirement?View 3 Replies View Related

As above, are there any apps that can do this?A big bug bear of mine is that if im loading a particularly slow web page and want / need to be doing something else, if I open another app, effectively sending the browser to thr back ground, loading of the page stalls until the browser is called up again. It's not a big deal, but being so used to my blackberry loading pages in the background, I kind of miss it.View 5 Replies View Related
Are there any apps that will record what another app is doing? For example, when I use an app and it sends data, or receives data etc, is there a way for me to monitor what and how it's being done? Be it via wifi, sprint, to what servers, from what servers etc.
I dont just need to know HOW the data is being sent, I need to know everything about it. From, to, ip's, url's, etc.
Basically I want to see what an apps doing and possibly block certain things.
Is there any way to remove pre-installed programs?
For example, the following programs were pre-installed:
And maybe some others.
I've just tried:
Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?
Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.
I have a Fascinate. A lot of my colleges are starting to use iPad tablets to take notes in them with a stylus in lieu of paper. I have also seen pens out there that record pen strokes as you write on paper and will show it on your PC once you sync it later. I was hoping that there is a Bluetooth pen that I could connect with my Fascinate and have an application running on the phone that would record the pen strokes in the app whether I'm writing on a piece of paper, or on the desk, or where ever... I know the screen would be too small to actually write on the phone but I would think the technology exists to record pen strokes in an app. It would be nice to have one very portable device that could take notes in and have the ability to email it from the phone or sync it to my PC and print/email from there if needed. We have been moving all of our filing to PDFs to save on paper and this would just be another digital move and a way to back up all of the paper notes that we take in internal meetings, etc.View 3 Replies View Related

It looks like A2DP Stereo Bluetooth support is a recent addition.
Would you folks that know about it expect this to work in the Evo?
I've tried pairing with my Jabra BT620s headphones, with no luck. One time I got the remote control to pause & un-pause the song, but I've never gotten the audio redirected, nor the volume control to work.
Shoud this be in 2.1? Froyo?
I was streaming Pandora in my car using the built-in jack. The phone rang and when I answered it, I was able to talk hands free. I heard the call through the speakers. I think they heard me because of speakerphone. It was extremely clear on both ends.View 5 Replies View Related
Has anyone noticed a change in the bluetooth profiles or support for such since the update to 2.2? Before my Moto S9HD headset would control the media player, allowing me to advance tracks, pause/play and such. It (at the time) wouldnt initiate calls but could pick them up.Well flash forward to 2.2(.3) and I can no longer control the media player via my headset. I can listen to music and now I get the prompt when I hit the call button for voice dial but now my fast forward and play/pause controls are gone.Even tried re-pairing the headphone. Is there another setting/control I need to set (noticed a few things moved in 2.2) or am I stuck until an update?View 2 Replies View Related
I am having trouble tethering my phone to my computer via pdaNet and bluetooth (USB works fine). I've seen several threads and tried a lot of things, but nothing seems to solve my problem. I have tried under Mac OS X and Win XP...
Under Mac OS X, it detects my phone and pairs successfully. It gets to the point where it says "Select the services you want to use with your mobile phone" and I check "Access the Internet with your phone's data connection." When I hit continue, it say "Configuring services..." forever, and it never connects.
Under Win XP (same machine), in my Network Settings, I tried to search for my phone and it doesn't find my device. Alternatively, if I go to Control Panel -> Bluetooth, it will pair. However I then go to Properties, Services and check "Dial-Up Networking", hit OK, and it says "The parameter is incorrect"
So basically the problem is that although my phone and computer can see each other via bluetooth, the DUN service from my phone isn't recognized by my computer. I have tried this with another computer as well, with no luck. Is there a setting on my phone that I need to change in order to get this working?
I have written a small app that puts my bluetooth in discoverable mode for a long time (G1 - API 1.6). I use that along with small program on windows to lock/unlock the computer if the phone is close by. I have the official Android 2.2 on my phone from Sprint. Today I tried to pair it with my car's handsfree. The two (car and EVO) can see each other and it works fine until it gets to the point where I have to enter the pin number. A window pops up on the phone for the pin but when I tap the digits on the keypad, they don't enter into the pin field no matter how hard I try. This happened after the 2.2 upgrade. I have also rebooted the phone but no change.View 3 Replies View Related

I'm a newbie here and of course my first post is a problem. On Father's Day, my kids gave me a Plantroics stereo Bluetooth set like this: I commute by train and like to listen to Pandora or Audible and the wireless stereo headphones worked great with my Blackberry Tour. Two days ago I got the Evo and now I can't get my headset to work with any apps. The only thing they are good for is talking on the phone but I can't get them to work with any media players. I hope I'm just a newb who is just doing something wrong.View 6 Replies View Related
