View 4 RepliesI created database in sql lite with commands:
CODE:..........
I saved to file myDatabase.db and i'm trying open it through android. I open new project in eclipse i put my database in assets folder and i tried open my db using code:
CODE:...........
And i can't open my database.
I would like to store an object into a SQLlite database. I am looking for how to best do it in order to ensure that if I need to updata/change this object in the future that users of the new and old object layout will be minimally impacted. In other words I want to ensure that making changes to the object will have minimum affect on clients that do not update their software on the old database format.
I want to also ensure an easy update from the old record style to the new format. I was thinking that I could add an element in the SQL row to identify the object type with a unique name, and to identify the object version number. That way I could read the row and use the object number to control the deserializer to use the correct version of the class.
How can I copy my data from xyz.xml in my assets dir to my sqllite db during development in android platform
View 1 Replies View RelatedI Installed Smoked Glass V5.0 from V4.5. I ended up doing it twice, and to make a long story short I lost my files in AK Notebook.
Here's my question:
1. Should I backup my current configuration
2. Then "Restore" my backup prior to upgrade
3. Grab my files (hoping they will be there) toss them on my mac
4. Then just "Restore" back to where I am now?
Need those files by tomorrow, any assistance is much appreciated. It's not that it's an emergency without them, but I will have to do some legwork to gather that info again.
I'd really appreciate a pointer to some actual working example code on how to use the Andy-SQLite3 engine on the device to access a db stored on the /sdcard when using Andy-SDK 1.0_r2. Since I have an ADP1 I am not using 1.1_r1 until the upgrade is available on ADP1 'Andys'. The device space will not hold the database, so I need the /sdcard, but I am open to creating an sdcard database and attaching it to a 'starter' database in the device space if somebody has done that successfully and would share example code for that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my Mini Pro to Android 2.1, I followed the steps on the sonyericssonsupport YouTube video. I did a Backup of all my stuff on the phone, when I'd updated my phone and turned it on it asked me to setup the phone again with the Language, Time & Date etc and now when I try to restore my settings it says "Could Not Restore" when it is almost done.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen i click on batch, then run to backup my apps it jumps back to the Backup/Restore screen with all the apps, nothing gets backed up. I have backed up before with Titanium and it worked. I reinstalled Busybox, didn't help. If i uninstall and reinstall will i lose all the things i did like freeze apps etc ? When i try to update through the marketplace it says installation error, package file was not signed correctly.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 73 visual voicemails on my Evo right now. If I backup the stock voicemail program with Titanium Backup will I be able to restore them all after wiping all data and/or installing a different ROM (as well as Sprint VVM)? If not, is there another way to backup the downloaded voicemails on the phone, i.e. not emailing them to myself?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm doing something wrong or newb here. I've tried both Astro and MyBackup Pro, and both of them require me to manually one-by-one "Install" and approve the install of each application. I had to tap "Install" then "Done" probably 100 times! WTF? Astro didn't seem to get ALL the applications either. It showed them all listed and I could check them, but they weren't part of the backup directory?! MyBackup Pro got them all it seems. Furthermore neither of them installed the applications BACK to the SD card from whence they came originally! I have to use another application to move them all again. This is incredibly tedious and obnoxious. My PalmOS just backed up everything as part of the HotSync and a restore was equally as simple. It backed up ALL the .prc and .pdb files. Isn't there a way to set a config/setting somewhere that says, "never prompt me for permissions"? My Palm never prompted me for permissions like this. It reminds me of the Windows Vista UAC debacle.Furthermore it restored the APPLICATIONS ONLY -- where the flying F is all my DATA?!?! aCar doesn't have my vehicle info in it. EiWeight doesn't have the months of pounds/body fat I've been tracking. What do I have to do to get the data/settings back for ALL my applications? Also, on a MyBackup Pro note -- it's stupid that it doesn't show you how far along in the asinine "Install"/"Done" process you are. Do I have 100 apps to go or 2 apps to go? I don't know. I'm just stuck hitting virtual buttons until the end.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBecause of the widespread problem of the Motorola Driod randomly deleting text messages I went and bought MyBackup Pro I have used it once before to restore my pictures. Today my phone deicded to delete all 5000 of my text messages. I immediatly went to my app and hit restore. Upon reaching about 500 restored text messages the app flashes a done pop-up and gives me this message; "Restore SMS failed: Couldn't init cursor window." I have no idea what this means. I've tried several times and with different days backups with no luck. I'm able to restore all of my other files from thye backup, call log, pictures, MMS ect but not the other 4500 text messages.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new HTC Hero and TELUS imported the contacts from my old (OLD) Motorola i570 dumbphone. I need to do a lot of cleanup of the data, including specifying proper first/last names, merging postal and e-mail address data from my Palm TX's database, etc. I used "Contacts Manager" to export my phone-based contacts to an XML file on the SD card. It can apparently import an XML file as well, but I can't get it to work. It always complains about importing a directory instead of a file.

So now I'm looking for another app that can overwrite my phone's contacts database with new data from an XML or CSV file. I would really prefer not to send all this information up to Google.
What will happen if I just copy everything on my old android phone using my pc and paste into my new phone?

I just downloaded the new update for my HTC desire. When starting the phone after that, it asked me if I want to restore my settings and I mistakenly clicked no.Now all my settings are gone and I dunno how to restore from SD again. I searched the web a lot, but did not find anything helpful really. How can I restore the backup which was automatically taken to SD before I installed this update?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI live in Denmark I have gotten the 2.1 update a few days ago.The SE startscreen does not work anymore (I am using ADW.launcher anyways but I am thinking about reinstalling the update again to get everything to work as intended.I have notised that the new backup and restore program contains a menu item during backup called Programs from market. I tried to do a backup but that menu item didnt seem to progress from 0 to 100% like the others (Sms phonebook and so on) so I am unsure if the backup file actully contains info on Programs I installed (from market) or not.Problem is that I am getting sick of first remembering all the apps I have downloaded and then downloading them all again. It takes hours and would be so much easier if phone either makes a backup of all programs/apps or at least keept a list of what was installed. Its is not possible to find the programs via market/download list (or at least has not been possible for the last 2 updates for the phone)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI think I know the answer to this, but want to check as I'm new to rooting. Bear with me. So I have a nandroid backup of the Sense ROM I was using up until recently. I've wiped and installed a Cyanogen ROM to check out Android without Sense - can I then just restore the old back over the Cyanogen ROM and get back t how I was, or do I need to re-flash the other sense-based ROM I was using first? Second question - if I want to move between different ROMs without losing my contacts, SMS etc, should I just flash it without doing the wipe first? What if I have to wipe - then I need some other kind of app-based backup to restore?

I am hoping people have better suggestions than my experience..I have just factory rest my HTC Desire to get around the googlemail to gmail switch. This required a factory reset of the device. Now the HTC backs up some settings but as it turns out not much. These are what I notice it misses:any saved scene settings any added wallpaper any apps any email or other account settings I already had the backup feature enabled (home>menu>settings>privicy>backup...) I used ASTRO to backup the apps to the SD.
