View 13 RepliesIs there any application for TDAmeritrade streaming stock quotes and trading on the G1? there is an app for iPhone called iStockManger but I don;t see anything for my g1 .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am developing an app on Android that will randomly pick and display an inspirational quotation (or verse) from a large collection of quotations. On Android I can choose between a flat file and an SQLite database. The app should satisfy the following conditions:
Be scalable to 10^6 quotations and/or verses
Be very fast (i.e. retrieve and display a quotation, immediately at the touch of a button)
Be able to load new quotations from an external source (in a format I have not yet decided)
What data format must I use?
I'm probably missing something obvious, but for some reason I don't manage to put a string with double quotes in a resources file.
strings.xml: <resources> <string name="message_empty_folder">Folder "%s" is empty.</string> </resources>
LIstFolderActivity.java: String format = getResources().getString (R.string.message_empty_folder); System.out.println(format);
Log output: Folder %s is empty.
What's eating up the double quotes?
Are the Evo's People, Phone and Messages apps written by HTC or are they stock Android?I have the following issues but I don't know where to report them;People and Phone apps don't do landscape.Messages app keyboard should default the Return key to "Send" message, since 99% of text messages don't have a newline. A newline should be allowed by pressing "12#" and then the newline key.Messages app should show the type of phone number (e.g. home or cell) when suggesting contacts in the "To" field, and should know to default to the cell phone. Otherwise its suggestions are useless; I've already sent several texts to landlines because of this.If these are HTC apps, does stock Android fix these issues?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just flashed to CM6 and its great, but I want the stock apps for Voicemail and People. I was able to find and install the Sprint TV app and widget but can't find the apk files for Voicemail and People. Anybody know where I can find these? I really like the ability to link contacts to their facebook profile.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an app where I want to list all phone numbers and the associated contact name.I see that there is the Contacts.People table for the purpose of getting all phone numbers and that there is a PERSON_ID to allow me to lookup the contact in Contacts.People.Great.Now I see that all the columns I want are already joined to the Contacts.People.Phones table. But that seems lucky in this case.How could I do the equivalent of the above statement in general if the implementer of the content provider hadn't been so nice as to join for me?
View 2 Replies View RelatedGo ahead and download opera mini 5 beta. It has the best facebook app on its homepage and IMO it is way superior to any out there.The browsing is super fast and you have the ability to download videos from your favorite sites to your sd card. Probably my favorite app side from personal assistant.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo are there any Poker apps that let you play with two people on the same phone? Much like one they have on the iPhone, where each player has one side of the phone (like "2 Player Reactor" on Android, if you've played that).
All I see are online poker apps and poker calculators etc.
Any clues?
I have all of my contacts linked to their respective facebook accounts, but the pictures that show up when I go to my People never update with the facebook pictures, they have stayed the same since the day I linked the two regardless of how many times the person has changed their default picture since then. Is there any way for me to change this so the pictures in my People update with facebook? Since they are linked I assume they should be able to do this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI thought this thread might be a good way for developers to see the type of apps that people want, and hopefully write them.
I would like an app that shows me on a map which cell tower my phone is using, signal strength, etc.
When using a SAX parser, parsing fails when there is a " in the node content. How can I resolve this? Do I need to convert all " characters? In other words, anytime I have a quote in a node:
<node>characters in node containing "quotes"</node>
That node gets butchered into multiple character arrays when the Handler is parsing it. Is this normal behaviour? Why should quotes cause such a problem?
Here is the code I am using:
import javax.xml.parsers.SAXParser;
import javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory;
import org.apache.http.HttpEntity;
import org.apache.http.HttpResponse;
import org.apache.http.client.methods.HttpGet;
import org.xml.sax.InputSource;
import org.xml.sax.XMLReader;
...
HttpGet httpget = new HttpGet(GATEWAY_URL + "/"+ question.getId());
httpget.setHeader("User-Agent", PayloadService.userAgent);
httpget.setHeader("Content-Type", "application/xml");
HttpResponse response = PayloadService.getHttpclient().execute(httpget);
HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity();
if(entity != null) {
SAXParserFactory spf = SAXParserFactory.newInstance();
SAXParser sp = spf.newSAXParser();
XMLReader xr = sp.getXMLReader();
ConvoHandler convoHandler = new ConvoHandler();
xr.setContentHandler(convoHandler);
xr.parse(new InputSource(entity.getContent()));
entity.consumeContent();
messageList = convoHandler.getMessageList();
}
I am finding that listings in the "people" app are different than those when I try to find them with the phone dialer. I do not understand. Suggestions?

View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else find that certain contacts in Gmail do not appear on Andriod in the People app?I have some contacts which are in 'My Contacts' on gmail but try as I might I can't seem to get them to appear on the phone. One of the missing contacts only appeared after selecting 'Show auto gmail contacts' and when I unchecked this option the contact still appears on the phone.This problem also manifests itself when pulling in gmail contacts to Mozilla Thunderbird on the PC so presumably there is gmail setting I have missed - could this be 'display random contacts'
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't get bettercut to launch the People app or the Camera. It says "This program is no longer installed on your device." I'm using a Droid Eris, and can't quite figure it out, although all other programs work fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI understand that Android Marketplace is not available on the internet, just from the phone.I would, however, like to point people to my application if possible. If the person receives their emails on the G1, what type of link can I give so that clicking on it will take them to the app in the Android Marketplace?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOnline, I can hide people in Facebook so I don't see people that I don't want to see. I would love to port that list to my phone so I only see the people in the Facebook app that I see on my laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently made the switch from windows phone 8 to the HTC One and I am really missing the people hub or groups feature of windows phone. It allowed me to put some of my contacts into groups. For example, I had 2 groups, 1 for family and 1 for friends. In these groups, it collected all the facebook, twitter, and other social feeds of those people and put them all together.
I really liked this feature because I could easily look at filtered social feeds for certain people without having to flip through each app separately. I often saw posts/tweets that I would have otherwise missed.
Is there a similar app or feature on Android that would give me this functionality? I have yet to find it.
I have 3 Google mail accounts and I transferred all of my phone contacts from my Blackberry to my EVO. I see many duplicate contacts for phone and e-mail on my phone but for some reason they don't sync back to gmail. I'd like to merge all of my contact data and then have it synced to either my main gmail account or to all 3 gmail accounts (if that's possible).
All of my accounts are set to sync on my phone but the phone contacts don't seem to be uploaded to my gmail account(s). I figured if I get all the data there I can use the "find duplicates" function in gmail and merge all of my contacts data under single names.
Two Android phones in the house, me and my son. In my Gmail calendar online, I can see my and his calendars and can add entries to either. Is there any way to view his calendar on my phone in the built-in calendar app? Is there a way to add entries to his calendar, or to invite him to appointments I create in my calendar?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOk, simple question. How do I quickly call a contact from a specific group? If I press Phone, there's no option to choose a group.I can pless People, Groups, <group name>, <contact>, Call mobile. Not exactly quick and easy. I've been using the People widget. It can show 9 contacts, or 3 contacts, from a predefined group, and you can scroll for more. I've had two 3-contact instances on a screen, Favorites and Co-workers. That's all that will fit. But I don't have pictures on any of my contacts anymore. The link to Facebook was just too buggy, so I removed it. So the People widget takes up a lot of space for just 6 names, and I need to scroll it most of the time (actually I can only see 4 of the names when it's scrolled to the top). On one whole screen. I'd like a button that brings up all contacts from a predefined group and lets me click one to call him/her. Or a compact widget that lists just the names in a group and calls when I click. Is there anything like that?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a ton of people in People (google) and 300 people in Facebook. All seem to link just fine. Except one person. She is in People (google) and in Facebook. Same exact name. If I open up People, she is there. If I open up Facebook friends, she is there. When I open up People, find her and try to link to Facebook, she is not there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a way to see who is or isn't using your application on Facebook. For example, sets say I have an application X that a user Y has just connected to. I want to find out if Y's friend Z has allowed X or not.Then, if friend Z has not allowed/used X with Facebook before.I want to invite that friend to use X.Is there any way to do this using the GraphAPI and the Facebook-android-sdk?
