Android :: Android Shows Calendar / Recurring Appointments

Aug 10, 2010

I have a client who I set up with a goggle calendar. He's a doctor, and uses his recurring appointments almost extensively. Currently, he's using a Blackberry, but because it is a private practice, he doesn't have a BES. Nor does he use EAS. Google's calendar sync with Blackberry is fuzzy at best (recurring appointments for some reason get put in as single appointments, so they EACH have to be manually edited/deleted), although I'm not sure who's at faultnor do I care What I do care about is that I recommend a phone that has seamless recurring event sync with his goggle calendar. I figured any late-model Android phone would work, but I just wanted to make certain before he bought it. Does anyone here have any experience?

Updated to 4.2 yesterday which is great.

But, on one of my panels I have a Calendar widget showing my future appointments. Since the update it only shows one week ahead where as before it showed about 2 months.

Is there a way to get it to show 2 months again?

HTC Desire :: No End To Recurring Diary Appointments

Apr 30, 2010

When entering an appointment in the diary and want it recurring e.g weekly, there doesn't seem to be any option to limit the time, it seems to go on forever. I would like it to finish on either a date or after a number of weeks, like the diary on my Ipod touch, I tried to jump forward to the date when I wanted it to end and delete/edit the ones forward as a strategy but you only get the option to delete the whole series.

Android :: Calendar Forgets Appointments

Jan 17, 2010

I can forget my own appointments without help, thank you. I hate having a smart phone alert me of an appointment with a phone call asking "Where there hell are you?" It's a "known issue." How comforting. The only workaround I have found is post-it note on the screen and pencil. My G1 may become a paperweight. If Google has enough resources to have a vice-president for climate change, get into the phone and energy businesses, and be VERY political, perhaps they could apply some of those resources to making Google Calendar dependable. What a joke.

I would ideally like it to use the width of the screen and allow me to scroll through events.

Motorola Droid :: Calendar Events Recurring More Than 30 Days

Dec 4, 2009

I've been looking for a solution to an unusual problem, my work schedule repeats every 35 days.
When I used a windows device with outlook I could program in my rotation and make each day recur every 35 days. I could then look at my calendar and see on any given day of the year if I was off, or working nights, or days. The Google/Android calendar only offers recurring appointments up to 30 days, and won't sync with my version of outlook.

Does anyone know if the 12/11 update will include a sync option for all Outlook? Anyone know of a calendar app that will allow appointments to recur 35 days later? Is it possible to trick the Google calendar (or Yahoo, or Excite) to repeat at 35 days?

General :: Delete One Event On Calendar In Recurring Series?

Jul 10, 2012

I just bought a new phone and have started using the stock Android calendar. I put in my work schedule as a recurring series...M,W,Th,F at the same time every week. I am taking a Friday off in a few weeks, so I went to delete that event only and there is NO option to delete just that day. My options are "This & future events" or "All events". I also tried Jorte calendar app at the recommendation of a Verizon employee and it is doing the same thing. There has to be a setting or something I am missing. I should not have to re-input all my data every time I take a day off. My old phone gave me the option to delete "This event only".

Sometimes editing a recurring event shows "Change only this event", "Change all events in the series" and "Change this and all future events" options, but other times the only options are "Change all events in the series" and "Change this and all future events". Does anyone know what you have to do to get the "Change only this event" option when editing a recurring event?

HTC Desire : Syncing My Outlook Contacts - Calendar Appointments

Jun 3, 2010

Just got my new HTC Desire today and I'm loving it to death!

Just having some issues with syncing my outlook contacts and calendar appointments.

I googled it and followed these instructions: HTC Desire - Using HTC Sync

I used the HTC Sync installer thats in the supplied microSD card to install but that didn't work so I have downloaded latest HTC Sync But when I get to the next step, "Setting up HTC Sync to recognize your phone" the instructions are:

First of all, step 1. seems pretty pointless coz you go to that part of the phone and don't make any changes. When I get to step 2 I can do what the instructions says but the phone doesn't attempt to find the HTC sync on my computer, it does nothing. I don't get a message saying its unable to find the computer, i can change the setting to HTC Sync and click done and thats all that happens.

Would love some help with this one, I've tried googling but can't find a difinitive answer to this issue.

Here are my details..

1.) Model Number: HTC Desire A8183
2.) Firmware Version: 2.1-update
3.) Baseband Version 32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11
4.) Kernel Version: 2.6.29-3cb3dfbf
5.) Build Number 1.16.841.1 CL171554 release-keys
*Running Windows 7, 32bit
*Downloaded latest HTC Sync 2.0.33 from HTC Desire - Software Download

Samsung Moment :: Calendar Only Displays Non-recurring Events Between Small Specific Date Range?

Jul 20, 2010

I'm going to ask a SHORTENED version of my question FIRST because, as I was typing out my thorough explanation below, I realized that I had SEEN A SETTING that I believe fixes my problem but I CANNOT REMEMBER where it is or how to get to it!

In short, the problem I am having is that NON-recurring events (one time appointment) that are in the Google Calendar online are NOT SHOWING in the Moment calendar app.

There was a SETTINGS PAGE...not sure if it was in the main OS menu or the Calendar menu...that gave you the option of choosing to show events "BEFORE" a certain date and to show events "AFTER" a certain date. You repeatedly tap the two "before" or "after" options and the dates would move further back in time and further forward in time respectively. NON-recurring events, obviously, continue to show for years prior or in the future but NON-recurring ONE-time events outside of a "range" of a time period do NOT SHOW. Does ANYONE know what the setting I am referring to and how to get back to it?

If NOT, perhaps my more thorough explanation of my problem and what i am trying to accomplish below might help me find the display before this date/after this date setting that I cannot find again!

Though we are new to Android and the gmail sync, I am very comfortable with the sync process and working with Google Calendar online or on the phone and the settings for forcing a sync, choosing which calendars to display, etc.

I did some troubleshooting of the problem and THIS is what I have figured out...WEIRD!!!...here goes:

It appears that the calendar on the Moment is ONLY showing RECURRING EVENTS...birthdays, anniversaries...ANYTHING where the event is set to recur some time in the future.

The non-recurring events...a random party, a random doctor's appointment does NOT show on the Moment Calendar app!

I prefaced my issue with being comfortable and familiar with the Google calendar operation because I am CERTAIN that the events are in the Google Calendar online. If I change the one-time event to a yearly recurring event and force the phone to sync then WHAM BAM the now RECURRING event shows in the Moment calendar app. REMOVE the recurrence and go back to the one-time doctor appointment, sync, and WHOOSH, disappears again!

The other odd thing is that "old" NON-recurring events that have ALREADY PASSED do seem to continue to show on the Moment calendar app for about a month. In other words, stuff back to about a month from today (today 7/20) DOES SHOW even if non-recurring but anything older than a month does NOT show.

Now I can UNDERSTAND why if you had a doctor's appointment on May 20, 2010, that that even should NOT appear on EITHER your Google Calendar online OR your Moment calendar app for May 20, **2011** because that doesn't make sense. HOWEVER, it DOES make sense and IS IMPORTANT to be able to go back to May 2010 and ask, "what day was that appointment with so-and-so company??" and you scroll back in your calendar to see the name of the company or "In February, 2010, did our son or daughter see the doctor?? and you scroll back a few months to see that your son and not your daughter went.

The Google Calendar online does NOT automatically purge older events...they are ALL VISIBLE online back YEARS AND YEARS. Why is the Moment "purging"/not displaying non-recurring events on the phone that are in a range of about 1 month old to about to happen in a month?
