Android :: Programmitically Accessing Internal Storage On Verizon HTC Droid Incredible

Apr 20, 2010

I'm trying to find information on how to programmatically access the HTC Droid Incredible's supposed 8GB of internal storage. To determine the external storage (SD Card) location, In examining HTC/Google Nexus One, Motorola Droid, and HTC Dream/G1 phones, there (as would be expected) does not appear to be any mount point for such arbitrary internal storage. On these phones the internal storage is divided amongst /data, /system, and /cache partitions. The Incredible's internal storage is certainly not going to be located in /system. /cache is also unlikely given that it is globally non-readable/non-executable. I'd read in reviews that the phone will still be limited to 512MB or so for apps, suggesting that it is not simply a subdirectory of /data.

Motorola Droid 2 :: Accessing 8GB Internal Storage From Apps On Phone?

Sep 5, 2010

I can't find a way to access the internal 8GB storage from the phone to put files there, or to open/use files there, for that matter.I can see it from the PC if I mount the Droid, but can't from the phone itself.please point out the obvious thing that I'm missing. I've tried Astro, Root Explorer, and the Files program that came w/the D2, none of them appear to allow me to access the 8gb storage.

Samsung Galaxy S :: Accessing Phone In Mass Storage Mode

Bought the Galaxy S yesterday. I connected the phone to my Windows 7 (64-bit) laptop directly (no USB hub). It detects the two internal memories, but the moment I access them; it says please insert the disk in the drive. What might be problem here? The memory shows as mounted in the phone. Also, Kies application does not appear to be working on Windows 7 64-bit. It does get installed properly, but does not detect the Galaxy S.

HTC Desire :: Resolve Hostname Of Windows Workgroup Devices?

Sep 17, 2010

Today though I was investigating a non responsive NAS drive that wasn't responding. When I went to it's location I rebooted it and thought hang on I can check it's working from here.So i fired up my terminal emulator app to ping it. However that's when I realised that linux doesn't appear to resolve windows networking hostnames. So my only option would have been to know the IP address. Is there any workarounds for this? My phone isn't rooted.I was wondering if there was some way to interegate a PC for it's hosts knowledge.. Even if that meant running a process on that computer which updated a list that could then be served to my phone.. but then that would only work if the phone has the abilty to then translate hostnames to ip addresses, especially since I don't have access to etc/hosts.So imagine you are outside and want to ping your computer but don't know it's ip address but you know the computer name. How would you do it?I realise now I could have opened up the router admin page to see attached devices but any other suggestions welcomed.

General :: 2 Small Internal Storage - How To Swap SD To Be Main Phone Storage?

Aug 23, 2013

I've bought this chinese clone of the SIII, it's a MT6575. It's great except for the internal storage, which supposedly is 500MB but there seems to be an invisible SD storage which is 2GB. It's really confusing... When I go to Settings -> Storage there are 3 memories: "Internal Storage" (claims to be 4GB but it's fake, it's actually 500MB), "Phone Storage" (claims to be 16.5GB but it's probably 2GB), and finally my SD, "SD Card" (32GB).

The thing is, I'm having problems downloading big apps because apps go to "Internal Storage" which is 500MB only, and which files are stored in the "Phone Storage" (maybe internal & phone are actually the same?). However when I go to Settings -> Apps, on the "Downloaded" tab, the apps are in "Internal Storage" (500MB), and on the "On SD Card" tab, it shows that apps are in "Phone Storage" (the ones I moved to SD). This means my 32GB SD isn't being used by the system when I send apps to SD probably.

Also, my 32GB SD card is found in /mnt/sdcard2, and the /mnt/sdcard... I don't know which storage is that.

So basically all this is happening because I tried to Link2SD with my 32GB SD doing all the 2 partitions stuff and so, but Link2SD never detects the "secondary SD" which is the 32GB SD, as this fake SD card, "Phone Storage", is probably what the programs thinks to be the SD card.

HTC Incredible :: Trouble Mounting Internal Phone Storage And Sd Storage

Aug 22, 2010

For some reason my Incredible won't mount both the internal phone storage and the SD card storage at the same time. What I mean is...when I plug my phone into my PC I only get a single popup asking to mount the phone's SD card storage, but not the internal phone storage. If I remove the SD card (or unmount the SD card using menus on the phone) and then toggle the connection type from Disk Drive, to Charge only, and then back to Disk Drive (to burp the connection), the internal phone storage will mount, but the SD card won't mount because it has been removed. When I connect my wife's incredible, my computer sees both the SD card storage and the internal storage (as expected) and gives me prompts for both. I took the SD card from the problematic phone and put it in the "good" phone and there are no issues at all (IE.. both the internal storage and SD storage mount). This of course means there is no issue with the SD card.

im shocked with how the manufacturer of my device(cherry mobile) designated their storage. the phone storage is 2gb and internal is 500 mb.

it is not a problem if i could write apps on phone storage by default but even though the 'write to phone storage' is checked, when i downloaded an app, the internal storage still losses free space.

so is it possible to extend internal storage?

Android :: Default Display Unit Px Or Dp?

I always thought the default display unit would be pixels. But when I run my application on WVGA800 in the emulator the lines are five pixels wide even though I called Paint.setStrokeWidth(3). The same seems to happen with Drawable.setBounds(); the value I provide gets multiplied by 1.5 internally. If that's the case, how can I specify pixels instead of dips if I want pixels?

Android :: Unit Tests Run Twice From Eclipse?

I've got unit tests which are subclasses of AndroidTestCase, I thought they were just taking awhile to run, but for some reason when I run them via Eclipse, they actually run twice. I can verify this in LogCat after the Console outputs "Launching instrumentation android.test.InstrumentationTestRunner on device..." the first run starts, which is only visible via LogCat. Then the JUnit pane comes to life and starts tracking the second run.

Android :: Unit Testing Localizations ?

Nov 17, 2010

There is no way to load a string from a specific locale's language file.

What I want to do is run all my locales' (I have 24 of them) time format strings through unit tests to make sure they don't crash. For example, here's a date format string in French: "'Hier à ' h:mm a".

These really need to be unit tested, because translators aren't great about properly escaping these strings, causing crashes unless we manually verify every string in every language every time we get a translation pass back.

This question has a sort-of answer. Is that really the only way? Is there a better way to specify the locale of a Context in unit tests?

HTC Incredible :: Format Phone Storage Vs Clear Storage

May 13, 2010

So if I do a Factory Reset on the phone it still has some of the old photos/videos I took, which leads me to believe it doesn't fully clear the device of everything, just the settings that I changed are returned to their factory defaults (duh!).I was curious if I do the Clear Storage option, which means turning off the device and holding one of the volume toggles while holding the power button - would that mean that the entire Android OS would be removed, or does it mean it does a format of the phones entire partition and re-installs Android (similar to a reformat/recovery partition on a computer)? In which case I would need to reactivate the phone doing the simple *228.

This causes no problems when running the project under test so I can't see why it should when running the test project, basically I'm stumped. I have posted the error text below, MyProjectClass is a class in the project under test which is used fairly heavily in the test project.
